Not sure who’ll win, but I think either France or Spain would be able to handle England or Argentina pretty easily. Well, maybe not “easily,” but I don’t see either losing in the final.

For the record, FIFA’s President (who also sits on the IOC) had a case filed against him to the IOC rules committee today for his relationship with Trump.

It’s very rude of them to be playing the semifinals at 1:00 on a Tuesday afternoon in a crazy busy week. I’ve watched these World Cup games religiously for a month, but will miss both semis entirely because of work. 
Best I can do is try to glance at the ESPN app on my phone during Zoom calls while trying not to get busted.

I had to drive several hundred miles today and could not find a radio station that I had access to broadcasting the game. Damn! I was so looking forward to this game.
I was stunned at the result, as I expected a competitive game, but would have bet (a lot) that France would win. When I saw the score, I was stumped at how it could have been that decisive for Spain, but after watching the extended highlights, it was.
Spain took advantage of their opportunities, and France did not.
I’ll have to be content cheering for France in the consolation game, but at least I’ll be able to watch it.

I’m in Paris, and watching the Tour De France this morning. I usually say that to someone in an email or on the phone and they assume I’m talking about Paris France., not Paris, Idaho. 
It was the fastest stage in history. A Norwegian rider Søren Wærenskjold won the stage, averaging a 50.91 km/h (31.63 mph), on a 161.3-km (100.2 miles) flat route from Vichy to Nevers, clocking a blistering race time of 3 hours, 10 minutes, and 6 seconds.
He broke the record set in 1999, by Mario Cipollini, a stage I watched 27 years ago from the same sofa
You cannot beat this time of year for watching my 3 favorite sports, cycling, the Tour De France, the biggest race of the year, Tennis, Wimbledon, on grass, my favorite major tennis tournament, and every four years, the World Cup!
I’ll be watching every minute this afternoon continuing my lack of accomplishment over the last couple of weeks
Edit to say: this period also contains my two favorite summer Holidays, the 4th of July, which we always celebrate in small town fashion, here in Paris, and Bastille Day, which we’ve celebrated in France 3 times over the years.

Was able to watch the 4th quarter (after the 2nd hydration break). Those Argentinian goals felt pretty much inevitable after England tried to turtle the game out for a full 20 minutes with a 1-goal lead. The pressure was relentless and Messi is a wizard, as always.
England Englanded.

I’m no futbol expert, but I do hate it in any sport when a team gets a lead and then plays not to lose. If you’re a coach that tells me you don’t believe in your team and you probably don’t deserve to win.
