Belgium took us to school. Seemed to be exactly where they should be to disrupt any plays we tried to make and took full advantage of our mistakes.

US has had some world class goalies in the past (Friedel, Keller, Howard) and Freese is significantly below their level.
Europe is still far ahead of us (and almost all the teams from other confederations). Five teams already in the quarterfinals (with Switzerland playing today).
He just seems wildly inconsistent. Had an amazing upper 90 save in the first couple of minutes, then a complete brain fart meltdown that led to a goal. Also isn’t great with distribution from his feet and was very tentative coming off his line in previous games.

That goal was perfection. Wow.
I am now officially rooting against Argentina. That goal that got called back on Egypt was a travesty.
Argentina is the Alabama of the World Cup
Agreed. But I strongly suspect that if it had stood, that they would have pulled back into a defensive shell and not scored the third.
Plus, the Argentina attack in the final 12 minutes was relentless. Just seemed like a matter of time before they scored. Both of those last two goals were things of beauty.
Yeah, if that goal had been allowed, who knows how it would have changed the complexion of the game. Nevertheless, you have to feel bad for Egypt. But man, giving up three goals in 15 minutes in World Cup soccer is almost unheard of.
Oh, man, i almost spit my lunch onto my screen. We were just in Pittsburgh and went to the Carnegie museum of natural history and I commented how I though there would be more stolen or ‘bought’ stuff in a place like that but it was mostly casts and the sign often said, ‘original found in the British Museum’ so we had quite a conversation on that.
