The odds seemed to favor Belgium - precise, disciplined, etc.
Not our best game. Any hope of a comeback was extinguished by the bizarre 3rd goal.
US soccer seems to be on the rise, overall, but my eye for the game is not refined.

Bummer for the US - gotta wonder if the world firestorm over what Trump did took a toll on the team. Everything that dude touches turns to garbage. Heās got the Midas Muffler touch.

Well, guys, the crowd brought the fire, and the players had the passion, but the other team was simply more talented. Who can find fault in that? Next up, the women in 2027. Hopefully they can do their thing!

We seemed to be better athletically. They were far more skilled, precise, didnāt play outside their level of athleticism, made very few mistakes.
Was the moment too big? The distraction for damn sure wasnāt helpful.
I think they would win 6 out of 10, but Iām guessing. We would play better. Hard to play worse.

I do think we probably have better overall athletes, but the Belgians were just miles ahead of the US in both precision and their āfeelā for the game. They knew exactly when to play the ball into space, exactly when to press the attack, exactly how quickly to counter, etc. The US just felt āoffā in all regards tonight and were honestly very lucky that it wasnāt a worse drubbing.
Freeseās error was catastrophic (obviously) but the US got caught ball-watching several times on defense and letting the Belgian players simply run unmarked into spaces behind them. Balogun was a complete non-factor outside of one opportunity (that he shot right at the keeper), as was Pusilic even before he got hurt. Felt like this team didnāt have any real leaders on the field. Someone needed to step up and make a play, and no one did.
You could also tell that Belgium simply wanted it more, and I canāt help but wonder how much the red card overturning really lit a fire under them. That second goal was a perfect example, with both the defender and the attacker having an equal chance to win it, and the Belgian player being far more aggressive and turning it into a goal.
Before the game, I figured itād be 2-0 or 3-1, but I expected the US to at least be competitive. That was a complete arse-whipping in every single phase of the game. About the equivalent of, say, a TCU 2010 game if weāre being honest.
