What I’m watching

I like both Gilligan and Seehorn but that show just looks so…boring.

Seehorn will probably win awards.

Season 3 of BB where it was domestic warfare between Walt and Skyler was pretty tedious.

Pluribus has been completely unpredictable, to the point where Internet spoiler-hunters have resorted to Google Earth to find clues about what’s to come.

The plot is far-fetched, but the storyline has been quite thought provoking.

This was a pretty cool documentary, if you like military stuff.

This gentleman is controversial but also incisive, dedicated and brave. This is a very compelling documentary about a number of significant historic events.

OK. I am back after two weeks in LA, and I saw some films during my time out there (yeah, I said film like a pretentious prick).

“Eephus” is a big, slow meatball of a pitch that hits it’s target. That’s also how I would describe this film. Just a fantastic and beautiful film about the end of an era. No matter what era it is:

Saw it on Off Broadway, at The Hudson ON Broadway and seeing the pro shot at a Hollywood studio feels like a proper way to honor that journey we took with this cast:

DREAM BIG! I always feel like Josh Safdie has a talent to make me be on the verge of a panic attack. This movie was no different. Like “Licorice Pizza,” the overall small, unique stories that serve the overarching theme make this a near flawless night at the cinema. I think Leo still wins the Oscar, but this may be Timothee’s year.

One of the better films about relationships. Worth a watch, and I tend not to like Will Arnett, but this movie has made me reconsider that. Laura Dern is excellent.

When Harry Met Sally/Sleepless In Seattle Double at Tarantino’s theater. A Perfect Honor of Rob Reiner (which oddly I bought before his tragic murder)

WOW! This film was an ambitious movie musical that was worth every minute. (Done by the same folks that gave us Brutalist) There are times you are uncomfortable watching, but it was brilliantly done. Amanda Seyfried should win the Oscar for this one, and I love the soundtrack. It’s about the Shaker Community and the religious group from England to the States, and their persecution.

It’s fine. I liked it, and it was def worth a watch. This is one of those movies you would go to in the early 2000s and enjoy, but may forget in 5 years, but remember when looking for a good example of needing comfort in life:

Netflix always has the worst writing. Still a fine ending to a cultural moment of our times:

Forgot the one on the plane home. Probably the most gorgeous film of 2025 in visuals and in quiet storytelling.

Some friends wanted to see Song Sung Blue. They told me it is about a Neil Diamond impersonator. It is a very good movie. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are amazing. The story is inspiring and heartbreaking.

Just watched Tron Ares. Visually it was pretty cool. Story was, “there’s a story?” I’m glad that we waited for it to show up on Disney+, as expensive at it is, at least we didn’t waste money in the theater for this flick.

I’ve been binge watching Falling Skies. It’s been sort of OK for a time killer.

I loved the original Tron as a kid and quite enjoyed the first sequel as well. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing Tron Ares, mainly because I absolutely cannot stand Jared Leto. He ruins every single thing he’s ever been in.

The NIN soundtrack is pretty good though.

I liked the soundtrack. Jared Leto was meh at best in this. If you do watch, watch for the visuals. The SFX are pretty good.

Another movie that I just finished is The Soloist. It is a biopic about Nathaniel Ayers Jr. It was based upon the book of the same name by Steve Lopez (columnist for LA Times). I found the movie enjoyable, especially Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of Ayers. Jamie is an extremely underrated actor, unlike Jared Leto (who I have no idea why he’s a “leading” man). Worth watching IMO, if you like biopics and movies that make you think.

It was a good enough movie that I got the book, now I need to read it.

Been sick for the past week and watched some very entertaining mini-series: Down Cemetary Road and Pluribus on Apple, The Beast in Me and 11.22.63.
