What I’m watching

Not an expert, or even a huge fan of F1, but always intrigued by the inner workings of the sport. That being said, talked Mrs. 330 into going to see it tomorrow. Didn’t hurt that she found out Brad what’s his name is in it and she found out there is some sort of love story in the plot. :face_vomiting:

Not much of a love story, at least not on the scale of Titanic. Thankfully the story does not revolve around what love story there is.

My wife and I recently watched Tina Fey’s 8 part rework of the 1981 Alan Alda film, “The Four Seasons,” on Netflix. We thought it was really good, as did a good friend of mine. Then last week we watched the original to compare. Good film there, too, but I thought Fey’s version dug deeper. Good use of four hours.

I had forgotten that I had only watched the first 2 seasons of the Boys. I started back up again last night with season 3. The termite scene in episode one … I’m scarred for life.

  I love The Boys, but it is absolutely not for the faint of heart. So much utter depravity in that show.

You should check out Gen V as well, the Boys spinoff. I thought it was really excellent, and equally as squirmy.

Titanic was torture. I wonder if DiCaprio blew chunks at the bow, filming that scene.

I’ll check out F1 after I caught up on my motorsports movies by watching Ford vs Ferrari yesterday.

A little research after the show gave me hints why my Toyota 4 cylinder is supposed to be pretty reliable. Doesn’t spin very fast, no turbo / less pressure. (Vaguely similar to the Ford GT, which was a V-8 with less spin, where the Ferrari was a V-10 that spun pretty fast. Unrelated, I had no idea Carroll Shelby’s company was actually at LAX.)

Just getting back from NYC a few weeks ago and got to see:

Dorian Gray

Lights Out at NYTW.

Dead Outlaw

Oh Mary

John Proctor’s The Villain

I’m not sure it’s anywhere anymore but they also did a live production of Good Night and Good Luck on CNN and it was fantastic like the movie:

We also saw Real Women Have Curves, Goddess, Death Becomes Her, Old Friends, Just In Time, Glengarry Glen Ross, Floyd Collins and The Imaginary Invalid. Kid’s a theater kid so we do this kind of trip two times a year.

EDIT: Someone put the whole Clooney play on Youtube

Just watched Nobody, a 2021 action flick with Bob Odenkirk. Pretty entertaining!

He was wearing a shirt from the sequel production post show when I saw him in Glengarry Glen Ross. I looked it up and the sequel comes out in August. I only saw trailers for it. Is it the family man John Wick?

Pretty much, and the movie rocks like almost nothing else. Odenkirk is awesome in it.

This is currently running on Netflix. Only covers the first two albums. I’m hoping there will be other additions before another one of the boys passes as they are definitely getting on… Kind of surprising how binary people’s opinions are of Zepp. Seems people either love them or hate them.

We found tis documentary to be thrilling while also providing new insight of just how amazing these pilots are. Also noted that the movie was funded by Barak and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions company.

I watched & Juliet, a clever take on what the story would be if Juliet did not kill herself after Romeo did after her faking it but him not getting the message. It’s a jukebox musical (modern music that fits into the story, like 90s boy band and a ton of songs my generation would know). Fun show if you get the chance to go see it. I won’t give away spoilers, but there’s good stories within the stories and parts that make you think.

Yeah, it’s a pretty cute musical. Planning my trip back around Thanksgiving like we always do and this is the one I’m hoping comes from London. The wife and daughter liked it last summer:

Some of you, like me, who grew up in the 60’s probably watched The Ed Sullivan show on Sunday nights with your family. Netflix has a documentary on Ed and his efforts to break the racial barrier by having black entertainers on n his show during the 50’s and 60’s and his support of the Civil Rights movement. Good watch.

We saw it and agree. I didn’t know how kind and well, hip Ed was.

Naked and Afraid vs Alone. Alone has fancy gear. They have no idea how other people are thriving, so I’ll give Alone that, but Naked and Afraid has the contestants attempting stuff with next to nothing. Also, they are teamed with difficult people. Good gravy, that would be tough.

The new Spike Lee movie with Denzel is bad. Feels like an SNL sketch. Mocking AI while seeming to be written by AI.
