What I’m watching

This one is both comedy and drama and Jesse Eisenberg wrote a beautiful movie and he and Culkin put in award worthy performance.

I read a bit about this and apparently Eisenberg hired Culkin sight unseen. The two didn’t know each other beforehand.

Looks good. Where might find this?

It’s in theaters but may be more independent theaters carrying it outside major cities.

9.5/10 What I love about this movie is it really doesn’t fall into typical tropes used in prison movies and delivers something heartfelt and real. It shows humanity to our most forgotten population.

Thanks. I’ll look for it.

You keep bringing up movies I have read about but not seen. I read that this is a true story about acting and theater work in prison and that program at Sing Sing has a had marked effect on released prisoners not returning (forgetting the word).

This was also mentioned when they were on Graham Norton.

I believe “recidivism” is the word you’re looking for.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth

We’ve seen two episodes of this mini-series. It’s gripping, and Colin Firth does a great job of playing the very sympathetic protagonist. It has been a while since the atrocity occurred, so this movie brought a lot back to my memory and I also learned a great deal. Highly recommended. On Peacock.

The emotional depth to this film is a breath of fresh air. It hits the family dynamics, dealing with grief and just the fact we all contain multitudes so beautifully. The three leads are absolutely chewing scene and when Jay O Sanders comes in at the end he destroyed me. A film I could watch over and over and be sad while thinking of my own grief.

Yeah, I guess I should mention every year around this time I rent a guest house in the Hollywood Hills. The owner is a friend and she is a Movie Critic and voter for the Golden Globes. So, I usually have a stack of screeners waiting for me. I tend to only watch one but I took some time to veg out and enjoy the patio and 60-70 degree weather.

As for Sing Sing some of the actors ( a large portion) are program grads. Colman Domingo is brilliant and I can’t wait to see him in 2025 Off Broadway as Nat King Cole (probably will transfer to Broadway).

Excellent. I need to watch this and Operation Mincemeat with him on Netflix.

So weird that Stanford’s recruiting class was 12 this season after top 2 the last three seasons. Surely this movie will have them #1 in recruiting, churro sales and talking tennis. 6/10 for me but I get why some viewers are horny for Tennis.

I just watched America Primeval on Netflix. Obviously not historically accurate but I thought it was good.

In a complete detachment from reality, my wife and I have been bingeing XO, Kitty on Netflix. It’s kind of a fun mindless watch.
