The pros of the house I rent in LA is that I am next door to a Golden Globe voter and they leave us screeners during our stay. Today is the incomparable Amy Adams in “NIGHTBITCH” and it delivers. This is a fantastic look at the mundane life of motherhood that is also difficult and I think should be targeted more for us dudes to watch. The dog part was the least interesting part of this movie but served it well.
9/10 from me:
They just showed a graphic for upcoming games.
Gosh, it’s such a mystery why I don’t watch much NFL anymore…
Second movie of the day:
It was hard to get into with the POV being the main way of story delivery. Has a bit of trauma porn but an important work of fiction based on real events. 7/10
May try to hit the Dylan movie or The Brutalist in a theater tonight
Binge-watched Alex Rider yesterday. Decent.
First seen by myself in an Animated Film Festival in Boston over 40 years ago. That’s how I came upon this one:
Went to see the new Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown.” All vibes in the best way. Great acting and virtually no script to be found. Lots of Dylan covers. It’s fun and Oscar bait. They did a great job capturing that era.
Following it up with Kings vs Lakers
This is a 9.9/10. Hollywood can still make Epic movies for adults doing adult things. This is a great conversation about the American dream, dealing with trauma through art and the fight between commerce and art. Not to mention post war America. Yes it’s 3:30 with an Intermission.
Public Warning!!!
Letting your wife and daughter take over the TV and binge watching “Murder She Wrote” may result in a great number of Marie Calledar’s Pie getting cooked for them to eat.
You are warned. ![]()
This one is both comedy and drama and Jesse Eisenberg wrote a beautiful movie and he and Culkin put in award worthy performance.
I read a bit about this and apparently Eisenberg hired Culkin sight unseen. The two didn’t know each other beforehand.
Looks good. Where might find this?
It’s in theaters but may be more independent theaters carrying it outside major cities.
9.5/10 What I love about this movie is it really doesn’t fall into typical tropes used in prison movies and delivers something heartfelt and real. It shows humanity to our most forgotten population.
Thanks. I’ll look for it.
You keep bringing up movies I have read about but not seen. I read that this is a true story about acting and theater work in prison and that program at Sing Sing has a had marked effect on released prisoners not returning (forgetting the word).
This was also mentioned when they were on Graham Norton.
