I know you watch the show!!!
I’m late to this series. I watched this one first. Probably watch the next two before Halloween.
Also, rewatched this:
Because this drops (Album wise) tomorrow:
RE: Warriors.
Maybe someone who was there when this was in theaters, but having watched it at home and cracking up pretty much throughout the run time, was this taken seriously when it came out? To me it plays like a half-rate satire and is hopelessly corny otherwise.
I saw it in the theater when it came out. I thought it was great fun.
No, it wasn’t taken seriously but it was done in fun. Now movies like “Colors” and “Boyz N Tha Hood” was taken seriously.
I watched Brothers on Prime last night. Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage play twin brothers. Brendan Fraser is the antagonist. I’m glad it was straight to streaming as it was hilarious but not blockbuster material by any means.
Watched “Oddity” last night on Shudder. Super creepy atmosphere and there were multiple amazing jump scares and one of them would be in my top 5 of all time (and I’m a horror movie junkie).
Took the kids to see The Wild Robot this afternoon. While I generally cringe at kid’s movies, the fact it had a 98% rating with both critics and audiences had me intrigued.
It certainly lives up to the reviews, and is an absolutely wonderful film. Kinda reminds me of a mash-up of Iron Giant and Big Hero 6 with jaw-dropping animation and truly remarkable voice acting. Matt Berry steals the damn show (as always), but Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, and Mark Hamill are are all stellar as well. Be warned, it’ll be a big punch in the gut if you’re a parent, but is absolutely worth it.
Shame it’s received exactly zero marketing as it’s one of the very few kids movies that I found to be fantastic for both young and adult audiences. 5/5 stars, without any reservations.
The Wild Robot is already streaming on Amazon Prime.
With your review I think I’ve found something to watch this weekend.
Though I restarted Reginald the Vampire as both seasons are available now.
It’s a lot of fun, we purchased it recently and really enjoyed the movie. It’s done by the creator of Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, so that’s a pretty good indication that it’s going to be good.
Oh? Yeah, my daughter loved it when she saw it with her friends. I too will probably visit it over the weekend.
Not for free. You have to buy/rent it at more than it costs to go see it in the theater. Might as well do that.
Well, if there is two or more of you, $24.99 is less than 2 tickets now days. Plus, you don’t have to listen to all the other people coughing behind you and making all the noise with the popcorn and wrappers… ![]()
Watched “Return of the King” with the kids this morning. It was their first time seeing it. While I’ve seen it a dozen times and can recite every line by heart, being with a group of people (especially kids) who are seeing it for the first time was really fantastic.
The audible cheering, gasping, and “eeeeeeew”'ing (at Shelob) was pretty awesome. Daughter 15.8 jumped off the couch with a “YES” and a fist-pump at the “I am no man!” moment
Just finished bingeing “The Rings of Power”, both seasons. It’s been fun.
As much as I like LOTR and consider it to be the greatest film trilogy ever made, I also feel like everything that has come after the original trilogy has been very…underwhelming.
I’ve only seen one of the Hobbit movies and only made it through half of the first season of the show. I found them both to be pretty boring, sadly.
While the kids are playing Fortnite, I think I’ll watch one of my favorite horror comedies.
Also, wildly appropriate for post #666 in this thread. ![]()
The “Hobbit” films suffered from excess bloat due to the fact that they squeezed out three movies from a single book. Two might have been more reasonable. Even the second two LOTR movies were hard to take at times. Peter Jackson’s excessive use of CGI action during the massive battle scenes and occasional over-the-top melodrama became annoying/distracting, and the mischaracterization of Faromir and especially Samwise Gamgee in comparison to their personas in the books was almost unforgivable.
