The stages yesterday and today were both fabulous. I’m interested in learning more about Matteo Jorgensen, the young US rider who grew up in Boise. He did a nice job today setting the pace for Vingagaard’s team.
He’s had a great 2024 since moving to Visma.

Here’re some articles on Jorgenson from VeloNews.
As you can see, he’s no one hit wonder. He’s growing into a proven commodity. Whether he wins the Tour or any other Grand Tour is yet to be seen, but he’s got the talent and pedigree it seems.
An addition from USA Cycling:
On the way back from my Great Britain trip watched this:
It really could have been a great flick with that cast but ended up being kinda lame. Still a decent watch if you are bored and have an interest in Scotland/England history.
I’m re-watching “The World’s Fastest Indian” for the first time in a very long time, and when this scene hit the screen, I was certain it was Echo Utah. A quick google search did not note credits for Echo in the film, but I’d bet my life this is the old highway (car driving toward the west from Echo, headed toward Henefer, just North of the tracks, looking east toward the bridge that the old tracks take to go over Echo Canyon and on toward the east side of Echo reservoir, and eventually into Coalville…
Am I wrong? Here’s the link with the video at the Echo time.
Literally just left of the scene in the video at this time, is the great old historical Echo church/school:
Just to cheer you up I just saw limited series of the final book of the Thomas Cromwell saga is coming out this summer back with Damien Lewis and Mark Rylance will be here soon. Can’t wait.
I remember when airlines had smoking sections. A pretty absurd idea, because the smoke didn’t follow the rules and stay in that section.
On a lark, we watched HItchock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” which I’d heard about but never seen. A little dated but great cinematography and a good Hitchcockian story. James Stewart shows some enjoyable acting chops.
I recently watched Amiel’s “The Man Who Knew Too Little”. This too is a little dated, which is a parody of TMWKTM. Bill Murray’s acting was priceless, funny and entertaining. He was deeply enthralled into his acting stride.
I am glad you raised this because I was hitting reply to do just that. One of my top ten movies. Alfred Molina is tremendous in his part and the bumbling henchman trying to play kerplunk, just side splitting.
I know football season is about to arrive when I see my first 9:00 pm raccoon sightings on my backyard critter cams. ![]()
Me too!
And for the record, we had our first sighting, in the grape vines, on the side of our house, unseasonably early this year, on the evening of August 11th. That said, the grapes are ripe early this year from the warmer weather, and they won’t be hanging out in your yard anytime soon, as they are still eating our grapes. ![]()
I stumbled across this one, and found it fun.
Watching one of their vids on Texas BBQ. It too is very fun.
My two (younger) sisters are in town (we were all born between 1956 and 1960) and someone mentioned Laugh-In, so I took out the laptop and we watched a handful of episode fragments, and found most of them as funny today as they seemed then.
As kids watching, we all recalled understanding only some of the jokes, knowing some were dirty, and thinking the show show was funny, all the time knowing we’d soon hear from the kitchen, “turn off that trash and do your homework!”
If you’re of a similar age. go out and watch a few segments with a cocktail in your hand, and be prepared to realize how little things change over time and how funny most of it is, 50+ years later. Example: the ladies singing and dancing in costumes while introducing the news segment each week, put a lot of effort into the costumes and changes in music and dancing that introduced that segment.
I know you probably had to be there, but that was funny stuff!
I stumbled across this little gem. I thought it was a pretty good look at Them and our Utes broke or helped rearrange CFB.
Watching “The Dark Crystal” and ruminating on the question “Just how many psychedelics does one have to use to come up with a movie like this?” ![]()
His bit on India is frickin hilarious
I blame him for the greatest line ever that I get to use when I see my friend Martín. ![]()
Gods, I adore that movie. Between Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and the Dragonlance Chronicles books, my lifelong nerdery (and love of all things David Bowie) was cemented quite early. ![]()
The Netflix series was excellent as well, but sadly got cancelled after just one season.
