What I’m watching

Was it good? It reminded me of the absurd horror genre which I love. Like Malignant from a couple of years ago:

This is so good.

It wasn’t like Malignant at all. That movie was supposed to be a horror movie with just a crazy, insane twist at the end. Slotherhouse is crazy, insane the whole way if you can take a joke stretched out for 90 minutes which I totally did.

Moving away from horror, “Professor T” is a lot of fun, especially if you like British crime shows. It’s all about a brilliant criminologist who is a professor at Cambridge. His quirky crime-solving is tied up with interesting stories about the main characters’ lives. The hero, Professor T, is an odd duck with severe OCD. The great feat of the show, and of the actor playing him, is that you start to care a lot about Professor T and understand him better as the series unfolds. Ben Miller, a comedian, plays professor, T, and he does it straight up. It’s a fantastic job of acting. I highly recommend this for people who like whodunits and interesting characters.

If you like that, you might like “Monk.” Tony Shaloub was amazing as the defective detective.

A Monk movie is rumored to be coming out.

I prefer him in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Also, he was excellent in the Broadway production of “The Band’s Visit.” Which the movie of that broadway show is great but not a musical and doesn’t have Tony in it.

The two are kind of similar in that way. “Professor T” has smile-producing moments of dry British humor, but is not a comedy. I was amazed to learn that Ben Miller, who plays the lead character, is described as an actor and comedian. The way he plays the character shows serious acting chops. I only gradually began to like the Professor, who comes across as brilliant but weird, and I really loved him by the end of the first season.

Just finished watching The Power on Prime. Anyone else watching or have watched this? Thoughts?

The Power was pretty good. Then again, I liked The 4400.

Don Hendly is quite lucid, transparent and articulate in this interview.

Since Glenn Frey mentions their relationship with Steey Dan so graciously, I have to piggy-back this low budget but hilarious take on the “rivalry”.

“Yes, fine.”

That whole series was amazing.

I agree. No one but you or I are aware or care. I love the guy who plays John Oats in that episode. I also love the low-budget, Halloween costume props. I think the writing is brilliant for the cognocenti

I still giggle about them using “sentimental fool” in the dialogue.

“Shut up Loggins. You’re ■■■■■■ music is making me barf”
