Utah Football 2025

Is there actual fire behind Tenney?

Wayshawn Parker, the 2nd rated RB in the portal, just committed.

I’m actually getting a little excited for next year.

Most Recent Portal Commits. The RB from WSU is supposedly one of the top RB’s in the portal.

Parker is a huge pickup. Rogers will add good depth. The RB room is better than it was last year.

Now if the OL can open a hole…

I love this pickup. With Devon at QB, the threat of a QB run will be very real and I think that will help the running backs with less defenders keying on them.

I’d say it has the potential to be our best RB room ever. We’ll see how these guys play out.

Wouldn’t that be great! Utah has had some very good RB rooms in the past. In 2021, there was Tavion Thomas (I know he had issues), TJ Pledger, and Bernard. I liked the Booker/Joe Williams combo in 2015 and the Matt Asiata/Darrell Mack/Eddie Wide group of 2008. Going back a ways, there was Dameon Hunter/Adam Tate in 2000 and 2001. An oft-forgotten, maybe underrated tandem was Chris Ma’afala/Juan Johnson in 1995, 1996, and 1997 (too bad Ma’afala was hurt so much).

The portal giveth and the portal taketh.

Mike Mitchell gone.

I loved his potential, but again just don’t seem to translate so far.

I’d venture the guys we’ve picked up are superior.

You could be right, we’ll see. But bringing in 3 or 4 RBs was a clear sign it was time to move on. Some of the evaluation might be based on how guys react when the chips are down. We definitely had that situation this year.

The Portal does give a much better view of what guys can do. HS players and even JC transfers are sometimes tough to project at our level.

For every John White IV or Devontae Booker, there are a lot of guys who didn’t come close to panning out.

Ty Jordan chased out a few promising RBs… except Micah Bernard.

It seems Beck is getting $$$.

I don’t think any of us have any idea how this shift in personnel will impact the coming season. With 25 players exhausting their eligibility and 20 in the portal as of today, there will likely be about 45 new scholarship players on the roster this coming year. I think the Utes need some portal additions along the DL and DE, but as of today, I believe that the incoming guys are a net plus over the departing guys.

I like the energy Atuaia seems to have and it will be interesting to see how the team comes together. Hopefully the Utes will be able to find an additional 7 points per game on offense and maintain the defense at a high level.

That’s fine. He was unimpressive. He can go to a non-P4 team and be a pretty good backup.

While we have some intriguing offensive stars joining the teams (and we certainly can’t do anywhere but up in our offensive production), with all the turnover, I’m uneasy about our defense.

The best defense is a group of players who know their roles and are used to performing as a complete unit.

ā€œWith that said,ā€ is the, ā€œDear John,ā€ of the transfer portal. It has to be the most overused cliche every December.

I am hearing rumors that Dorian Singer may have another year of eligibility and may return. Any truth to this? Also, there is chatter that an Oklahoma QB may be coming.

Yeah, that’s the guy I heard about. So now Utah has Dampier, Wilson, this former OU quarterback, Becker, and the other incoming freshman (his name escapes me). That seems like a pretty big upgrade over made-of-glass Rising, true freshman Wilson, Rose, Huard, and Bottari. I guess we’ll see.
