I saw a little of an early UNM game, thought “Bronco has a pretty good looking QB, and a pretty bad defense”.
Based on what Whitt said a month ago about the need for plug and play schemes in the Portal era, I’m optimistic we’ll see new players contribute more quickly.
It’s a sizable jump from UNM to P4, and I don’t expect Dampier to be all-Big 12, but it should be fun to see how things unfold.
How do you “fix” it when the big $$ schools & the players all like the current non-system? And the party controlling Congress is strong in the southeast where the big $$ schools are located.
Utes just landed Oregon transfer Jaxson Jones, a four-star linebacker/DE. He’s the son of former Ute Daniel Jones. For those fans my age and older, you will remember Jones as being a very good WR and kick returner from '97 to '98. Unfortunately, his bone-headed unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in the game against BYU in '98 probably cost Utah a win.
Agree. We were missing a short-yardage back last season (although Micah punched above his weight). He reportedly has “a wealth of experience and a bruising running style.”
Sometimes dudes jump out to see what the market will bring but I’ve also seen some do it to get guarantees from their University. Honestly, it’s almost worth jumping in the portal if you are top player until they fix this system. Imagine being a Top Player that will be a 1st rounder. You can get so much cash from these universities if you really wanted to make it about you.
