The process of settling affairs can be incredibly long and incredibly frustrating, even when those affairs were mostly in order before the person passed. Far too many companies are adamant about making the process as difficult and time consuming as possible.

Single Income No Kids.
I pay in to educate and raise people’s kids, but get no benefit. Frankly, people are incredibly ungrateful towards us folks who dutifully pay.

Kids are all grown, still paying taxes for schools.
I figure I owe the coming generations a lot more for what my generation has done to mortgage their futures.

Yes, I realize my post is whiney.
I just got a bill for $1900 and it really struck me wrong. And yes, I just opened my property tax “quote” and my taxes went up about $300.
When is this going to end? I really wish people who have no kids, had a choice on where the money goes. I used to be the first person to say I’m glad I’m paying to educate society, but now I’m tired and old, and seeing what society has become, my money is better spent elsewhere.
To all you peeps who take parenting seriously, Thank You. To the rest, you don’t deserve my hard earned $$. A choice on how it’s spent would be nice. A Thank You would also be nice.

I understand where you’re coming from.
My youngest graduated from the U 16 years ago. I don’t think my kids could have all gone to college based on today’s costs without being saddled with enormous debt. Looking back on what college cost for me and how the current costs have far outpaced inflation, I have no idea how my grandkids will afford it if they choose to go. I can only imagine how costs have gone up for elementary and secondary schools.
My future time on this planet is far less than my past. I wish I was more optimistic for future generations.

I’ll be happy to pass along a Thank You, even though my wife and I had only one child, and paid for him to go to private (Catholic) schools all the way. You did your part, and society is better off because of it.
Even though we were paying for our child’s private education, like you, I was always happy to pay for public education, and still am. The day will come, however, that those constant, large tax increases will finally catch up with my happiness to pay, and it’s probably not too far off.
This is an observation that I struggle with. How much of what society has become is from a lack of decent education, verses an undoing of that education by certain media types, people’s silly reliance on social media, or general laziness. Also, is it today’s education that is failing, or the education of our generation. It could be argued that our generation is the one responsible for today’s society. I don’t know those answers.

Why do I feel so whiney today?
I made and enjoyed a nice ham and bean soup with cornbread for dinner, got my lamp fixed, found some really good Korean BBQ jerky at Costco for half the price of the Flaming J in Evanston, cleaned up the house, and finished a Jack Ryan binge watch on Prime.
I miss my wife.

I gently and respectfully disagree. We tried to have kids but are happy to contibute to the best possible public schools, Day-Care and anything else that helps to elevate the least among us-to become the best they can be.
Many other countries achieve pre-school, undergraduate, college and advanced degree education (including vocational job training) as a matter of fact.
The cream rises to the top; but you can’t make cream from water. Common milk is more beneficial than desperation, cynicism, and despair.
Teachers, education, experiential, learning, Job Corps, volunteerism etc… All these things inspire and impel people to be smarter, stronger and better members of society. I would gladly pay more money for children to have breakfast, lunch and after school meals. How can one possibly learn without having a full stomach? How can one possibly care for other people if no one cares for them to even have a decent meal while trying to keep up with people of better means in a competitive classroom Millau?
The reality for not having intelligent, well cared for and intelligent, caring children is open mayhem and societal break-down.
Anyway, isn’t anyone’s child a part of us too?

Ubuntu is not just a version of Linux. It’s a saying from southern Africa: “I am because we are”.
Like an evolving recipe, a pinch of that thinking could help, IMO.

I went to log into the new Utah tickets app so I could transfer my season tickets to the guy that bought them. The app gives me three options to log in:
- University student ID
- Apple ID
None of which are tied to the e-mail address that my tickets are actually under. Why does all technology have to suck?
(I can log in on the website, but last year transfers would only work through the app. Crossing my fingers they fixed that bug)

It looks like quite a few people missed this part of my post. I would prefer my money goes to Parks and Recreation. If parents can’t parent, at least let’s keep the kids active and exhausted. Maybe they’ll be too tired to be ■■■■■■

I get what you mean by “choice”.
If I had a choice, none of my tax dollars would go to the “Utah Fits All Scholarships”. This is the one where they use public money to fund private schools and home schools. If you want to educate your kids in either one of those forums, then pay for it yourself. Don’t use my money. I’ll gladly pay for the kids who attend public schools.
