I don’t like children either.
With my twins in 8th grade and my oldest starting her Senior year, the amount of text and emails we’re getting from their schools is INSANE. Literally 10 messages per kid over these first couple days with teacher introductions, notifications on different fees or programs, band reminders, and a million other things.
I hope none of them are important because I’m just hitting “delete” at this point.

Pop up ads on news sites that you have to click through to read an article, orrrrrrr you can pay to sign up to avoid the ads. If I signed up for every site I read, I’d be in the poor house.

Americans are quick to defend the rights of a free press. Why is that free press, then, not free?
I greatly miss a printed daily newspaper with large news sections for national and local stories,. a couple pages of comics, a business section with stock listings, a sports section with articles for all the local teams with box scores and all the league standings for various sports an arts section including movie locations and times, and a want ads section filled with interesting categories.

Sorry for duplicating a topic (football ticket downloads) but I could not effectively search the site for the original conversation (I’m choosing to limit my bitching to one platform at a time).
I completed my double major (math, computer science) undergraduate program in 1986. I was asked in my first job interview, to rate three possible algorithmic solutions for a hypothetical problem. The hiring manager eventually informed me that I had not chosen the simplest solution and would therefore not be considered for the job.
He further told me emphatically that had I come to work for him, he would have reminded me daily, of his programming mantra, “KISS” - Keep It SImple, Stupid!
I was pleased to accept an offer later in the week from a better company, a less dramatic manager, and to be able to turn down (what was probably a last minute, desperate) offer from the first guy.
I was always taught, that sImple solutions that were well designed and extensible, were the goal, so his message did sort of resonate, and as my career went on and I attained higher stations with more responsibility, the notion of making it work and work well, and then making it better later if needed, always guided me and my teams.
I just spent many more minutes, perhaps 90, trying to download my tickets to tomorrow’s game, record the (inexplicably necessary) changes in my credentials to an iPhone app, a seperate website, and then attempt to define what I would have to do next time to avoid the 90 minute CLUSTER-you-know-what. After all, I paid a lot of money for the privilege to do this 6 more times this fall.
I know one Utefan, who goes to the U ticket office at the beginning of each season to get printed tickets to all the games to avoid this nonsense. I now read that they are happy to do so for any ticket holder for $50!?!
I started to read that there is some new strategy this season that, once you understand it, and set it up, makes it easier for a season ticket holder to download his tickets at each successive game. Frankly, at that point my eyes were glazing over…
Here’s an idea, email the ■■■■■■■ electronic tickets for the whole ■■■■■■■ season to me the day my ■■■■■■■ season ticket payment clears!
Or mail a physical copy that same day.
Considering how much I’m paying, that should be the minimum anyone should expect..

The standard college educational plan is designed to create middle-management workers.
My father in law doesn’t have a smart phone. In fact, he doesn’t have a cell phone of any kind. He used to like to try and go to one or two games a year, but it’s not even an option for him anymore without jumping through a bunch of additional hoops. He just opts to not go instead.
I get that he’s very much the exception these days, but it sucks that the system is designed so people like him can’t engage even if they want to.

It’s also a shame that it’s all about mining everyone’s data to the ength degree, so that not a penny is missed getting rubbed out of minutia
