Wow! Thanks for posting that. I’ve got a new artist to follow.
WOW! That’s the most interesting new thing (new to me) that I’ve heard in a long time.
Thanks for posting.
I went immediately to YouTube looking for similar and the first thing I found was just a nice
She’s a terrific young talent.
Oh man, Bad Religion was amazing. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a show where I can sing along to every word, and I spent an hour acting like an idiot teenager tromping around in the pit. (Side note: f*ck, I’m sore today) They haven’t lost a step since I saw them last in 1997, an absolutely solid 10/10 show.
Dropkick Murphys were a little underwhelming tbh. Maybe because everyone was so knackered after BRs set, but the crowd didn’t have nearly the same energy. I think I probably would have liked it more if I was more familiar with their songs. It felt like for every rip-roarer they played that got the crowd jumping, there were 2-3 “meh” tunes. Not a bad show, just not nearly at the same level as Bad Religion. Probably a 7/10, if I’m being generous.
I’m Italian-Irish, from Boston. I’m not a fan of DKM. At all. Though I wish them well, I find most of their stuff tiresome and redundant.
Kill me now if anyone loves their reduntant and tiresome catalogue.
This song could also be posted in the Pet Peeves thread as other people’s writing can quite often drive me up a wall (even my own). All hail Weird Al.
Guilty as charged. Yeah, my grammar shifts.
I got sucked back into Baldur’s Gate 3 (it’s just such an incredible game), so I’ve been playing the equally excellent soundtrack as background music while I work.
A blast from the past:
Holy crap, the new Lord of the Lost album is an absolute blast. It swings between gothy tunes that feel straight from a Sisters of Mercy album:
To a driving Rammstein-esque stomper
To a soaring Epica-esque track (
To an absolutely epic version of what Turisas would sound like if they were raised on a diet of Europop instead of folk metal
I love, love, love Chris Harms’ voice, the songwriting is fantastic, and every song is a catchy earworm that you can’t get out of your head. It’s just plan fun and infinitely re-listenable. Guarantee this one will end up high on my year-end list.
Interesting angle: both groups in that video above, Lord of the Lost and Feuerschwanz, have been involved in Germany’s contest for Eurovision representative, with Lord of the Lost succeeding in 2023, and representing Germany with this fascinating entry:
That is the same yer Loreen [Talhaoui] returned after 11 years to compete, and win, again: the 1st woman and only 2nd person to ever win twice in 70 years.
I had never heard of Lord of the Lost until we randomly caught them on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. They absolutely blew me away, and I’ve been a fan since. “Blood and Glitter” absolutely crushes live, btw.
Got the chance to hang out with them a little bit (they happened to be standing next to us during another band’s set) and they were all just really cool, humble, nice dudes. Their “1 Person Circle Pit” was very funny to be in the middle of. ![]()
They’re coming to Salt Lake next February, and if you enjoy metal shows I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Also, Feuerschwanz is hilarious. Ren faire folk metal “Gangnam Style”? Sure, why the hell not. LOL
That would be hella cool.. We already had one Eurovision tryout from Sweden last May: SMASH INTO PIECES. I met them , tried out my little bit of Swedish and enjoyed everything they played.
