I had no idea. I thought it would be in Pasadena. The guys will love it, but there are a whole lot of distractions there.
The director of the UU marching band confirmed that the Ute band will not be playing the national anthem, but will be marching in the parade, performing at halftime, and playing from their place in the stands, hopefully so many renditions of Utah Man that it will be stuck in the heads of Ohio State fans for a week or two.
As you may have already guessed, Chris Fowler will be doing television play by play, Kirk Herbstreit color, Holly Rowe and Tiffany Blackmon sideline reporting.
Although Radiance Technologies Bowl is an unusual moniker, The Jimmy Kimmel Bowl takes it to another level, talk about hypocritical hollywood sleaze. Too bad Utah State, or for that matter Oregon State, are associated with such a thing.
For years Rose Bowl teams stayed at the classic Huntington Sheraton in Pasadena, which a neighbor of mine worked at, getting her sonâs and myself free tickets to a few Rose Bowl games.
I noticed that the steak dinner at Lawryâs is still part of the tradition, as well as Disneyland (December 27th).
Mark Harlan says he expect 60,000 Utah fans at the Rose Bowl.
Wow!!! Thatâd make it almost a home game feel for our Utes. Hope it happens!!
Given what happened with ticket sales, it wonât be a shock if it happens.
Truth is the Rose Bowl makes a nicer Rice-Eccles South than that erector set stadium in East Provo.
So do all the $285 seats really have seat backs? Iâve been selling my tix short! I thought they were bench seats. I still have two available in 2-H.
This is an excerpt from the article:
âYeah, there is surreal moments when you stop and think about everything,â mentioned Harlan. âWe all havenât had a lot of time to stop and think, weâre just all moving forward and just enjoying all this. But everything goes to the guys and coach Willingham and that staff and just how they continued to gain momentum throughout the season and overcome tragedy and just stay together. To see them celebrate, now over a week ago in Vegas was something I certainly will never forget.â
It irritates me when I see that mistake made by some out of town rag, but when local media canât get it right itâs unforgivable.
What if Harmon said that?
Matt needs to learn his coachâs name.
Say what? Iâm baaaack
Right. They are supposed to have editors, after all. How long does it take to proofread read an article before publishing it?
As near as I can tell from how the SL Trib app shows stories, nobody proofs that edition before uploading. One of the most egregious issues is how sometimes entire chunks of stories, say two full columns, are missing in what you see if you use the headline click feature thatâs supposed to give you the whole story to scroll through, and often those headline links are faulty. I never see that issue in the NYT app.
I spent some time last night scanning through YouTube videos trying to learn more about Ohio State. Iâd like to know more about them since weâll be sitting in the OSU allocation seats and I want to have decent discussion with their fans.
Two of the three videos I watched last night were some sort of fan/self-proclaimed expert things shot in the Woody Hayes Practice Facility. In both of those the guys were more obsessed with losing to Michigan than anything else. Only one of the six said much about us, calling us the âMichigan of the West,â and implying weâll do really well as a result. He was pissed. Another was totally dismissive of having to play us. All the rest just blathered on about how the Buckeyes have a chip on their shoulder now, something to prove, blah, blah, blah.
My favorites, though, were these two West Virginia guys. I have no reason to believe they have any credibility, but their take was Utah will absolutely crush Ohio State.
Sadly, I didnât really learn anything about OSU and their team thus far. Has anyone found some good links that actually provide a decent preview of what we can expect from them?
Film Study: Utah Brings Just the Kind of Offense Ohio State Was Hoping to Avoid in the Rose Bowl | Eleven Warriors

That was great! Thanks for posting..
Loved the assessment.
Interesting tidbit that adds fuel to Tavionâs fire:
Many readers will remember the Dayton native from his time as a recruit, ultimately choosing to join Luke Fickell in Cincinnati after the Buckeyes pulled his offer late in the process.
CP3 I think is the only other player with direct Ohio St. connections - decomitted to choose Utah.
After perusing a couple message boards and interacting with some tOSU fans, thereâs one thing I can state with complete confidence.
They are absolutely obsessed with Michigan.
Like, borderline unhealthily obsessed. Nearly every discussion ends up coming back to Michigan in some way. It makes some of our fansâ obsession with BYU look positively tame.
I get that itâs a rivalry, butâŚsheesh.
Urbanâs influence will last a long time (like with us) at least in one area:
tOSUâs fan base referring to Michigan as âTTUNâ⌠That Team Up North.
Remind anyone of something still lingering here? LOL
