NCAA Tournament

Not that I don’t admire and respect Bama and Clemson or anything. Just want to see someone else on top for a change. (Just like how I respected but grew weary of the Lakers and Celtics in the NBA finals throughout much of the 80s.)

I completely understand that. Trust me, our fans are peak annoying. We need a 4 year title break to dump some bandwagon fans.

The sentence “We need a 4 year title break to dump some bandwagon fans.” is peak annoying.

What is more annoying are the Alabama fans I am talking about. Six titles in twelve years has made them unbearable.

Trolling. It’s what you think you’re good at.

Nothing more annoying than BYU fans in the 80s. Whenever I almost think 'hey maybe it’s time they won against us football for a change" I remember the 80s and think NO!!!

Not trolling at all. Alabama has actually won 6 of the last 12 and there are way too many Bandwagon fans. I really miss the days when So. Miss made me nervous. Something pure about watching a team be built. It’s why I love Alabama hoops.

The fun is in the climb.

Absolutely. They were insufferable.

Case in point: When we signed Scott Mitchell, they said “he would have played DB for us, if at all”

And they still wonder why there’s a generation of Ute fans that absolutely despise BYU and anything to do with them.

Ok, so I have always wondered about this. Other than Provo who are your rivals? CU? Is Boise still a thing? I just never knew who else were your rivals. When I worked at The UK network many of the folks around their hoops saw U as a tournament rival.

Way back when it was CU and Utah St. Boise never has been a rival, even though they beat the snot out of our football team the last couple of times we played.

BYU came about because of Lavell Edwards, before him and after he left BYU hasn’t really been competitive in the rivalry. It’s been lopsided for one side or the other, depending on Lavell Edwards’ tenure. Thanks to Coach McBride the lopsided for BYU became more even, then once Lavell left.

Not sure what to say about USU in football, they kinda fell by the wayside along the way. CU stopped being a rival when about 60 years ago when they joined the Big 8 or whatever conference they were in with Nebraska. Utah and CU had been in the same conference up until that point, and we were each other’s rival. Pretty even split IIRC.

I think my Boise State thought was from the old Utefans when I came around. So many hated Boise back then.

Well, it may not have helped that Boise had beaten the football team pretty badly. The sour grapes thing. Get enough folks on here, and you’ll find a bunch of disdain for BSU as a school, but a fair amount of respect for the football program. At the time, myself included we didn’t take BSU too seriously in football. Getting beat badly put that into perspective real fast.

I know some people on here hate it but if every conf champ is in we have a system where every team has a shot. Right now non P5s have zero shot. Also, I am not sure we see much change in the final four of that 16 team tournament but at least we’d have some fun opening round matchups.

That makes sense. I guess you kind of hope CU and Utah can rebuild the rivalry again. It would be a good conference rivalry since all the other teams seem to have their geographical rivalries. I see a potential SC as a competitive rival in football. For my $ the appeal to Utah being a football power is there.

Yeah, it’d be nice if CU became our rival again. U$C seems to have become one, at least in our eyes. I don’t know if they view Utah as a rival in football.

They don’t

Big 10 had two number 1 seeds, and two number 2 seeds. No one in the Final Four.

Suck it pundits.

The Little 10 is done. Go PAC12.

Never would have dreamed when I was a teenager in the 70s I’d find myself cheering for UCLA.
