His son is currently a dual sport baseball player and wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bearcats.

He still may need to play catch with him. Itā€™s part of the family contract.

For USC to hire Urban Meyer at this juncture would be like holding A.A. meetings in a liquor store.

Which is the Liquor Store? SC or Meyer?

SC should lean in and become the new Miami.

@BamaFanNKYā€¦yeahā€¦I donā€™t think the U$C alumni really wants to change the school applications to require a JUVI or Adult Criminal record to attend the school.

Also, U$C wasnā€™t built in a mosquito-infested swamp with a history of being where the local criminal class went to hide from the law.

Now the porn industry that has surrounded them has some smack cachet, but it still doesnā€™t raise U$C to the felonious heights of the Hurracons.

We shall see what happensā€¦

Isnā€™t the application process just a drop stop to leave cash for a guy who knows a guy? Or being a legacy?

Hahahahahahahaha. Jeff would be perfect. He could keep them solidly at #3 every season in the PAC 12 South.

This is also big. Jimmy Sexton about to get paid. That man has gotten more coaches raises from their current schools than any agent I know:

No one in high school has ever heard of Jeff Fisher, plus heā€™s the wrong color.

Next.

U$C is going to have a challenge to find a replacement. Given the unrealistic expectations of the fan base and the ever-shifting FBS landscape, the number of programs where they can go to ā€œraid a coachā€ have shrunken significantly. With aged facilities (and yes, they are aged), and all the sketchy press over the last decade, they have become the ā€œRaiders of College Football.ā€ They donā€™t need a high profile ā€œget,ā€ they needs a coach that can connect with the talent and get them believing in themselves - something they havenā€™t had for a decade now.

I think Helton was a playerā€™s coach but maybe too much of one. USC (and many with lots of 4* and 5* egos to manage) is closer to a pro coach job - how to get the talent to work together, to buy in, and to instill a culture of winning instead one of getting their numbers to help their draft status (which ironically only works for a few while if they played more as a team more players would end up with NFL careers - I havenā€™t checked the data, but seems like USC is not placing guys in the NFL at a rate they should).

The 4* & 5* egos are on the BOT.

I checked for you and, no, USC is not at the rate we should be. Itā€™s embarrassingly low. Player development is just one of 129ā€™s (Helton) laundry list of faults. He will go down as arguably our third worst coach in 120 years. If you want a great menā€™s bible study leader Clayā€™s your man. But to lead a major D1 program - nope.

Franklin will be ok here, but nothing to get excited over.

Who does most SC fans prefer?

Luke Fickell.

But he does not seem plausible. Uproot six kids from Ohio to L.A.? For the NFL maybe, and they will come calling too.
