Box score:
Glover’s biggest / only issue is not being able to have some pop on contact, ie, physicality.
Everything else is really good. Quick / good speed / good hands / secures the ball. Haven’t watched his pass pro, but if he’s having a problem with arm tackles, no way he can stand up a LB in PP. (Neither did SC’s RB do well against Barton, got ran over.)
By contrast, in the Cal game Vaki got stopped at the 1, and just put the weightroom work to use and moved the pile to get in.
Wow, I certainly don’t remember that. I must have had a “spell” for a bit. Thanks.
Do you see him being able to fix that or is just something you have? I assume it is just getting stronger?
Glover is a “Scatback.” The kind of RB that you get him the ball in space, then let him create yards. He’s not going to outpower a LB or lineman, but he can get YAC on smaller DB’s and safeties. He needs to work on his “quicks” to get the separation he needs to get north and south. I hope he was watching Vaki’s cut for a TD. If Glover can get that kind of move working, he will see more reps and carries.
Seems to me Glover lost a little weight from last year, a little like how Moss got lighter. I agree on the scatback observation.
In our system, you can see how it was JJ, then Micah then Glover. Lud mentioned that once, we have JJ as a primary, Glover as a changeup, and Bernard’s in between & versatile in the throw game.
Vaki is like a faster, more powerful version of Bernard, but not the same physical impact through the line as JJ.
I’m told this will be the Utes’ look Saturday, in honor of the USS Salt Lake City. I’m not a fan of Utah unís without red, but whatever.
What about Blackout Uni’s? Maybe they could add a splash of red somewhere, but I dig the storyline and honoring those who served. Let’s hope they persevere and complete the mission.
Go UTES!!
I think it’d feel weird to recycle those unis, especially since they were last worn against Oregon two years ago.
Rumors on social media (so take with the requisite truckload of salt) is that there’s a new hand-painted helmet that has something to do with the MUSS.
More likely this. It’s long been advertised as the MUSS appreciation game, and if they were going to do a salute the veterans thing it would be closer to Veterans Day, except we’re on the road that day.
Since we are home on 11/4, the veterans game would be more logically placed there.
MUSS appreciation this week would make sense.
Hope this is for the ASU game and they go red with the handpainted helmets for MUSS appreciation/Oregon.
Been there, done that.
If they want to do the Naval gray again it should be against say Weber State or ASU. Saturday should be home team red maximus.
Handpainted special MUSS helmets. Cam Rising is showing it off right now on the Pat McAfee Show.
For the life of me, I will never understand how Pat McAfee is so popular.
MUSS helmets are cool tho.
I don’t care for the show. Only watching today for the Utah broadcast. Pretty good lineup today actually. Alex Smith, Steve Smith, Cam Rising, with Dalton Kincade and Coach Whitt upcoming.
Totally agree on McAfee. Also, the fans are pretty embarrassing with their obscene chants.
I agree regarding McAfee. Pretty juvenile if fans are chanting obscenities. Glad gray will not be the uniform de jour, Muss motif looks great, RED wonderland tomorrow.
Meh, they’re college kids.
Seems like it jives with McAfee’s overall vibe as well.
