I’ve been a trash talker for a very long time; and there are times when I will break out in a swear fest that would make a sailor or longshoreman blush (and it has happened more as I have aged). That said, what I heard today from the crowd at that show was uncalled for low-class trash.
There are plenty of ways to trash talk the East Provo Ecclesiastical Academy that are far better and smack them around harder than swearing. Signs that say “Social Security is their NIL Sponsor”, or a picture of a trashed minivan with “This is how BYU NIL’s” would be funnier. Even posting the overall record with a ‘Nuff said” over it.
Even chanting “Never Rated” when they got brought up would’ve been better.
Unfortunately that is not where they went. Opportunity lost.
I may get flamed here, but I hate that Gameday is in SLC and The Pat McAfee show was broadcasted from campus. It’s a total distraction, and apparently some of the fans have given the overall fan base a black eye with their classless behavior
I actively try to avoid anything involving McAfee, but was curious how far out of bounds Utah fan’s behavior was today. So I googled “vulgar chant McAfee show”. There are articles for each of the past four weeks about students chanting “F*ck [rival school]” and ESPN not being able to bleep it out.
with all the cost cutting ESPN did, why did they decide to sign Aaron Rodgers puppet McAfee? All these shock jock sports shows are awful IMO (Cowherd, Jim Rome, Stephen A. Smith)
I’ve only watched Pat McAfee once before, briefly, I don’t really know who he is or where he came from, but my two twin 8 year old grandchildren appear to have more brains. How the hell did this guy get this gig, how does he keep it?
Believe me, I’m far from a pollyanna or prude, but I agree with 330ute, Gameday has morphed to the point where it takes away, taints the game it is associated with. Everything has an expiration date.
As evidenced by most of my post, I too am the furthest thing from a Pollyanna or a prude, but I believe in karma, so my plea to all of you chanting drunkards is to tone it down. Cheer your frickin hearts out, but keep it classy.
