Name the last QB who transferred from Utah and went on to tear it up somewhere else.
I’ll wait.

Isaac might benefit from moving farther away from his parents.
Go to Ole Miss and replace Dart.
I was thinking Ole Miss is his likely destination.
I am still trying to think of one. Barnes had three or four good games for USU this past season. That’s about it.
So, the take-away…we recruit crappy QBs, can’t coach them up, and then they transfer; once in a while, we get lucky. Haha
FWIW, word was floating around a year ago that the U coaches weren’t too sure Wilson would ever take a snap for them. They were recruiting with that in mind. One result of that is the Su’e Su’e kid from West who committed and is currently on a mission. He was told he’d be in the mix for QB when he returned, but if the list was too long there Scalley would work to make him a potential NFL safety.
Su’e Su’e’s skill set, from what saw watching him in a couple of games, seems to match Beck’s offense at UNM vs the Ludwig offense. We’ll just have to see how this plays out and how closely that matches my source’s story.
Edit: Fixed spelling of Su’e Su’e.
I mean, yes.
However, it seems like that’s the case with, what, 2/3 of college football programs right now?
I’m good with that. Just football. Ha
The Trib article says that Wilson was concerned that Utah is going to bring in UNM’s Dampier. But Wilson says if Dampier doesn’t come, he (Wilson) may stay.
“Family” on 3!
Warning: only applicable if I get enough NIL $ and/or playing time
So since Beck was named OC, we’ve lost every QB.
Ludwig wasn’t the problem but getting rid of him has created a huge problem.
Would be interesting to get a total P5 list of QBs staying vs portaling this year.
There are two intriguing G5 QBs in the portal: Dampier and the QB from Tulane. Both are upgrades over Wilson.
Maybe even more than that. Can we land any of these? Stay tuned.
My short answer is, yes I do think that the coaching staff had a fair amount to do with his turnovers. One way is not using a short passing game with crossing routes with what seemed any regularity. The other is not using the run game better, IMO too many outside runs, and only a few inside runs. Perhaps I’m wrong, on the running portion, but I don’t think pass plays were called in a way to help Wilson get a rhythm.
Maybe the kid from UNM will follow Beck.
FTFY.
Ohio State QB Devin Brown, who preceded Wilson at Corner Canyon, is also in the portal.
