AP poll is lunacy

BYU is 12th.

Gonzaga is 24th with 4 losses, 2 to unranked teams including Washington.

Yet Utah and SDSU are both unranked despite only having 2 losses (Gonzaga just lost by double digits to sdsu at home

And Arizona is still ranked 10 with theee losses and after having just lost by 18.

This is one I really don’t get… their SOS is terrrrrible at 250. Without looking closely I think they’ve only played two Q1 games, one of those being a loss to us.

They’ll get a chance to test their mettle against the Big 12 competition. Kansas, Houston, Okie St, Baylor…we’ll see how long they last in the rankings.

The Trib has failed to hire a beat writer for the U.

For the Hawaii game, played across the street from their offices, the Trib ran the AP copy on the game.

It’s odd the paper who likes to tout themselves as independent has no Utah beat writer while they employee two for the school down south.

They’re also publishing tons of content from The Athletic. Seems to me to be an odd use of funds for a non-profit that begs for donations and gets mad when you have your ad blocked on.

The Athletic material is part of the relationship with the New York Times.

His point was that the Tribune is short on original reporting, not that it’s stealing articles. If the paper is only wire service articles that are everywhere, why bother with it?

True, but it doesn’t hurt us that the self-righteous turdburgers are doing well in the polls and computer rankings. If we take care of business, good things will happen.

Things are about to get much tougher for them. Which kind of sucks, because we almost want to root for them to have beating them stay a strong Q1 win. But rooting for them is pretty much impossible for me.

We should also root for Wake Forest to keep winning. They’ve looked pretty damn good since we beat them, their only loss being a close one to LSU.

I’m doing some tedious organizing this afternoon and watching the recording of this game. If I was bewildered by the double foul on Lovering and Breidenbach when it happened, I’m infuriated now. GEICO caveboy should have been tossed when he came down the court and shoved Lovering hard in the back. LL was literally off the court for several seconds until he came back and bodied up on caveboy and they tangled. That’s when the foul got called. One ref was looking straight at the first shove and ignored it. The announcers didn’t notice it either. Amazingly bad.

I don’t see them holding that position. As their competition stiffens they’ll sink — as Audio Slave would say — like a stone. Shade aside, I don’t think they’re bad. They’re solid, but not likely a serious Top 10 team.

I rewatched the UW game, at the very end of the broadcast they mentioned Will Exacte will likely redshirt this year.
