What about Ma Jian?? He had a similar NBA career as Britton Johnsen and Alex Jensen who have been named as candidates.

Sadly, only a few laws matter anymore.
Iām not here defending Coach K, I gave him this year as his last chance to turn things around and he hasnāt done it, so, after 50+ years attending games, 30+ years as a season ticket holder, the last 3 failed coaching hires, and almost two decades of less than stellar basketball, Iām done. Iām retiring soon and it makes no sense to keep betting that somehow, someday, this will all turn around.
But, I will say, that the NCAA not punishing AZ, KS, and others, and failing to do so for decades, is in some small part, responsible for the failure of this coaching staff.
There were several critical recruiting failures for Coach K, that went specifically to AZ, some of which smell of last minute payment to the recruit. These have certainly helped K to his demise. However, I still hold he and the staff ultimately responsible for the failures:
- No one, believes that Gonzaga is paying their recruits, and they are succeeding wildly, while we are thrashing. They have nothing to offer that Utah does not have to offer (and more), save a winning program,
- Majerus, Pimm and Gardner, successfully recruited kids from western states, Europe, Austrailia, or wherever they had to do, who had enough talent to be coached up to succeed in the our conference and in the NCAA. Iām sure they all lost recruits to payola, but they kept searching, and finding diamonds in the rough, ala Coach Whit.
- As our late basketball benefactor specifically told K, donāt accept being a victim.
It is clear to me, that K and his staff accepted being victims some years ago, and the latest theft, by BYU, only reinforced, in their minds that the world is conspiring to steal their chances to succeed.
Utah needs to hire someone who believes that they can turn this program around. And then DOES IT.

Had all those things gone his way, heād have still lost at Oregon. Heās like 1-19 vs. Altman.

Coach Whitt hasnāt accomplished anything Larry hasnāt in the PAC 12 and Larry wins a higher % of PAC 12 games. If we fire Larry we should also fire Kyle. We have peaked in football and canāt get past Oregon, USC, Washington. We blew a 21 point lead to Washington.
Well, he has won the south division twice (I know bb doesnt have divisions) been to a bowl game virtually every year, put a huge number of players in the pros, and his teams repeatedly perform better than the recruiting rankings would suggest.

Not to mention that Rice-Eccles pretty much sells out every single game with a growing waiting list for those wanting to buy season tickets and has an awesome student section whereas the Hunty is emptier each season and we have a mostly apathetic student body that cares little about college basketball.
(I WILL give a shoutout to the students who are showing up for basketball as while they are small in number, they are enthusiastically supporting the team).

Hang a banner for going to a bowl game every year and performing better than the recruiting rankingsā¦what a joke.
Larry has done the bball equivalent of going to a bowl game almost every year and his teams consistently finish higher than preseason predictions.
Larry has three NBA starters, if you do the math, thatās similar to the NFL starters Kyle has considering there are five times as many players on a football team.
So youāre saying our basketball fans and student section suck horribly. Yes, I agree.
When you compare strictly wins, Larry vs Kyle, Larry has a slight advantage. Iām not saying either one should be fired. Iām just looking at the numbers and being rational.
You are very bad at trend reading. Kyle and the football program are trending up in every major category. The basketball team has, at best stagnated.
The football program went all in on 2019, that was the peak and now we are rebuilding again. We got blown out the last two games of our peak season.
Larry also made it to the PAC 12 championship game only a couple full seasons ago.
Somehow nobody realizes that. Our offense was terrible last year even with Ty Jordan. We werenāt contenders last season. We wonāt be competitive again for two more seasons.
Thereās an obvious inconsistency in our fanbaseās expectations with Kyle and Larry. Why?
