And now another peeve. KSL inserting auto play video ads on their main web page. Or any news site shoving auto play anything anywhere. I have all the switches set and filters I can on my phone. This is extremely frustrating and they did it before then stopped. Guess I won’t visit again until it’s stopped again. But it’s a strong peeve this morning.

Auto play adds are really ubiquitous now. Sometimes, out of annoyance I just click off the article. How many new roofs, belly fat reduction or erectile enhancement products do we need? I guess I have to worry when I’m inundated with adult incontinence brief adds…

I dont remember which site I was on yesterday, but there were so many ads on top, bottom, and sides of the page that the actual article I was trying to read was barely even viewable as a tiny square on the middle of the page. Every ad was animated or playing videos over each other, and it finally just crashed my browser and I left the page.
It felt like the final stage of ensh*tification where it’s simply all ads until it breaks entirely and collapses on its own. While the actual consumer the ads are intended to reach simply walks away without recalling anything they saw an ad for.
Hope the $.001 that site got from my visit was worth it!

GEICO had some decent ones, Progressive had a lower hit rate… but Liberty Mutual is 1000% awful, zero redeeming value.

Fell asleep watching football. Woke up to KSL news. Reporter covering the General Conference wearing the Republican cross. Who decided wearing the cross made them look pure? All I see is a Trumper.

I looked up Republican cross and still not sure what it is. Is it different than any other crucifix? Does it have some connection to Republicans I’m not aware of?

Wearing the cross seems to be the trend with MAGA women to make themselves look pure. I called it the Republican cross. What irked me was seeing each “take” for this reporter as she kept adjusting it so it was a very prominent visual.

So it’s like the Karoline Leavitt Christian virtue signaling kind of thing. Have LDS women taken to wearing a crucifix now? I didn’t think that was a thing.

In your post you made a significant error period do not confuse a cross and a crucifix, they are different things very different things. Crucifix refers to it still having a body present. Whereas so many of the other denominations most of them Protestant that use a cross symbol are very specifically using one without a body because their referencing the victory afterwards not the agonizing suffering. Which has been used by orthodoxy and Catholicism for 1500 years to guilt trip people.
I have heard of a few LDS people wearing a simple cross, because apparently they’re still not the rabbit obsession that I was taught about in the '60s and '70s about how the crosses assign of evil and suffering and all that other business.
For me it’s a little bit of a signal to other people to kind of let them know I might be interested in that conversation, but also for me it’s a handy thing I get so caught up in everyday life and in the world and sometimes I don’t focus on that the way I should. To have it be a very important guiding element throughout everything I do.
And that comes from my own spirituality and my own experience especially in these last 10 years of so much isolation. I am not controlled by the cross or by any given religion however the entire story around what the cross is about and eternal life and all that other business that is of course the guiding force in my life. A very different story than having someone’s doctrine and dogma cram down your throat

I’ve seen it more (cross) on 15-24 year old lds guys with a chain. And mostly lost it’s meaning other than it’s trending amongst that demographic.
