The pet peeves thread

I would’ve prescribed a nice hybrid gummy and watching more football.

As an aged grappler I can attest to the feeling of being “beaten with a rubber hose”
I find Tylenol and warm baths to be the trick

Wes, it didn’t get rid of it. They disassembled and are reinstalling it somewhere else. As it was right next to where the Jetstar 2 was which was reasonably disassembled after 50 years, the two spaces are adjoining and it’s likely they will be installing some form of new ride, which is expected to be a smaller coaster type of some source facing all the scuttlebutt and the images that have been leaked out and the conspiracies flying around.

There are however plenty of other good reasons to be done with the place the idea that for what 30 years now they have charged you for both the water park and the amusement park even if you had no intention of using both halves on the same day. And of course the last of my check they don’t have an option just to go in and enjoy the park in the Midway and everything else without the rides or the water park. And for older people that’s pretty much the situation they can’t really do either one but they would still like to go hang out for picnics and games and the enjoyment of watching kids or other people they know have a good time. And that would also of course help cover the cost of general maintenance and the entertainment and things like that.

But when I saw how much it cost for me to walk in for just one day one time when I can’t even use the rides, hell no with the greed is outrageous

THC pretty much does nothing for me at all. I’ve tried several different varieties of gummies (in CO, where rec use is legal) and the most it’s ever made me feel is slightly tired. I did try smoking it a couple times, and both times it made me nauseous and really paranoid.

Have kinda landed on the fact that it’s just not really my thing.

It’s all those years of using it as a younger man tokin up a firestorm.

I just finally got clearance and started using some about 2 weeks ago and it’s definitely making a difference in conjunction with the acupuncture electrical stimulation and Tai chi training exercises from my chiropractor for he’s the one that told me where to go right up the street from him on State Street and 7th to find both the little place that gives out the card and the dispensary right next to each other.

And the best part is that they do deliver now. I had to straighten out the mess with what I thought was my debit / credit card only functioning as a credit card when I tried to use it at the dispensary and they would don’t take credit. For logical reasons.

I did discover the hard way but I can handle a half a gummy but I definitely can’t handle a whole one because the two halves of the ones that I cut apart and kept in the same bag it kind of glued themselves together on one case and I haven’t realized it so I ended up taking a full gummy in ended up with some very weird mental psychological effects from that much for somebody has never used this stuff before

Ditto… when I was in high school in the 70’s. I was the only rock and roll musician from that era in any high school in the Salt Lake valley that refused to ever smoke pot. It was difficult. I had to walk home from a long distance sometimes when people would start smoking it in the car in which I was riding :frowning:

Interestingly, back in high school and college when nearly all my friends were smoking every day, I never even tried it once. I suppose all the “DRUGS WILL KILL YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY” advertising we all saw in the 80’s must have worked pretty well, because I steered entirely clear (not sober though…I underage drank like a damn fish back then).

I never even tried weed for the first time until I was in my late 40’s and it became legal in several states that I was traveling to regularly for work.

Well I understand that the only times I ever tried taking a hit off a joint across my life there might have been two possibly three and it never made me horny or hungry or high it just made me a little edgy, which is kind of an opposite of the normal effect for most people. Of course when you’re just using whatever actual form of flower as it’s now referred to in the business, that’s a very different matter than the extracts that are made to use for gummies in different coordinations. Hell I didn’t even know there were two major different strains I don’t ever heard of sativa.

And it’s a good program through the dragonfly dispensary / pharmacy there on 7th and state. I mean you’ve gone across the street to get your card but then you sit down with a pharmacist who is trying to walk you through the rather or came formula and the thing that they do have three major brands they use but there are a few other outliers. They even offer three different $75 discounts for new patients. I’m so happy with the three different varieties that I’ve been using, a active/com/ sleep trio of different dosages that I went ahead and actually reordered and I just keeping it carefully insulated in one of those triple bubble wrap things in the fridge so that it stays cool and doesn’t freeze or warm up too high.

One of the biggest reasons I chose to take this risk is so that I can get a hold of the gummies for the anti-inflammatory effect. Thanks to gears of the Navy and then the VA handing out Motrin for every single ache and pain and inflammation nobody was monitoring how long and how much and as a result I have chronic kidney disease. And that was only really diagnosed during my time in that nursing home starting 10 years ago. As a result I can never use the NSAIDs again. But first I had to get off of the hydrocodone prescribed by the VA pain clinic, so they would stop testing me. It’s that weird thing of I’m grateful that all my health care is covered by the va, but because it’s a federal agency and the federal government refuses to remove the legal barrier, I can’t have the VA involved.

Well it turns out that between just the general push against drugs thanks to Nancy Reagan’s oh so successful just say no campaign, combine that with the timing of me having grown up in a strong LDS Faith bouncing around between foster homes and all but still had the whole anti-caffeine anti nicotine anti drug thing beaten into my head, and I chose to go into the Navy right at the period when they need it again massive drug screening sweeps as a result of the rampant drug use epidemic that came out of the Vietnam era.

This is all the underlying foundation that was beneath my medical career, and it wasn’t just that I was taught first aid and basic nursing and things like that, one of the elements was my first major duty station was a male surgical floor in Virginia and if you were on the evening shift the unless you guys like myself are the ones tasked with doing the evening med rotation, and we had to learn how to calculate IV drops using a watch and looking at the drops and all of that very archaic analog type technology. You don’t go through intense training about pharmacology and medication administration without that just serving as the ultimate binder for all of the other anti drug stuff in my life.

I do just fine with my standard paranoia.

I was so straight laced in high school i never smoked pot or touched alcohol, which is quite unusual for a non LDS kid growing up in Wisconsin. One day i had my mom’s car at school and offered some friends a ride home. I freaked out when they all pulled out their pipes and fired up in the car. I knew the car would wreak of pot when i got home. Dropped them all off and drove around for an hour with the windows down to get rid of the smell. Mom never said anything…wonder if she noticed.

BTW, those guys all had beautifully crafted pipes that someone had made in wood shop. Do schools still have wood shop?

That is impressive given WI is the highest for excessive drinking. Or maybe in WI, beer doesn’t count as alcohol  ?

Taverns are more common in Wisconsin than wardhouses in Utah. Minors can drink in bars if they are accompanied by a parent. Needless to say I had a lot of catching up to do in college :winking_face_with_tongue:

I do not know about any others, but Highland High still has an excellent wood shop. I took an evening woodworking class there a couple of years ago (coincidentally 50 years after I took a woodworking class in the same shop when I was attending high school there).

It’s kind of fun to come to this thread from my last visit and have it simply say, “1973” and for a moment I think, “Wow @IrvingWashington hated the entire year of 1973?”

Well there was a global energy crisis, so 1973 was a rough year!
