Jerry was a banjo player of merit with aspirations to play with the Blue Mountain Boys long before picking up guitar. He continued to finger-pick throughout his lead guitar career.
My namesake announced they’re splitting up for good after 41 years as a band. I’m crushed…they’ve been a part of my musical life since I was in high school.
At their prime, Skinny Puppy was an absolutely insane force of nature. I’ve always said that if nightmares had soundtracks, it would be provided by Puppy. Their live shows were like something straight out of a drug-addled fever dream. Glad I got to see them one last time this year.
Between the last ever P12 game yesterday and now this announcement, I’m feeling just…weird today. Kinda empty. This sucks. ![]()
An acquaintance of mine saw them in Vancouver last week and said it was an epic show. I would have liked to see them live, unfortunately never did.
Man, I have just been on a big Doors kick lately. When I was 14 I discovered “Break On Through” and I was immediately hooked. I distinctly remembering @LAUte telling me not to listen to them but I just couldn’t resist the mysterious allure of the band and d proceeded with my curiosity. As the years passed I mostly lost interest but now I am seeing the group in a different light and it’s truly fun. I’m reading a book by the drummer of the band and it’s quite good, and it’s almost completely changed my perspective on them. I was thinking today that “Riders On The Storm” was probably their best song so I thought I’d share. As with all phases for me this one will pass, but I’m going to ride it out for a while to see where it goes. On another note, based on everything I’ve learned recently I’m beginning to really question the popular depictions and portrayals of Morrison over the years. While I think Val Kilmer is a good actor and that he did a fairly good job portraying Morrison, I can’t accept that that was an accurate take on The Lizard King. My research has taught me that while he could be volatile, he was truly gifted and was far more sensitive than a lot of people realize. Just a few thoughts.
Jim was a very complex, controversial, and conflicted. He embraced the dark side in most of his best work in a way no other artist could hope to imitate.
I’m not in her demographic and she’s no vocalist, IMO, but she’s a genius at writing pop songs and as an entertainer.

Interesting take. Should she get off your lawn as well?
I didn’t make myself clear. I actually like her voice. But her voice isn’t what makes her great, admirable and a musical phenomenon. I don’t own any of her music but every woman i know from age 10 on up seems to.
She’s adorable. This thing she has going on with Travis Kelce is cute as heck!
“I woke up this morning and got myself a beer”
LOVE that album!
