Me too. For Mark Harlan, assuming he is as ambitious as I’ve been led to believe, this selection is important, and important enough to his reputation that he gets it right.
All of us want to know now, none of us will. All of us want to be insiders, I bet none of us are or are that well connected. All of us want to be a fly on the wall, only that fly just got swatted. All of us have an opinion that with another $4.00 gets us a coffee somewhere, and maybe a donut on the side. Admit it, we are all blind here and we are leading the blind.
Not confusing to me. I’m a statistician. You need to chill.
And by the way, I WAS saying Shaka was a sure thing - at least that’s how it was seen at his hire. His results were really disappointing. I hoped for better being a Texas alum. Now both my schools are looking for new coaches. I would put Porter Moser most likely in poll position of this year’s ‘sure thing’ (besides current strong P5 coaches). We won’t get him.
You still haven’t named names, just poo-pooed others’.
No deadline. The only urgency is to get your name out there while there are still landing places available. Whit said that there is probably about 1 spot available for every 4 players in the football portal. Probably the same for basketball.
I am curious about Harlan’s competency. When he was hired, I had read a small blip about his past mistakes. Don’t remember where I read it. Neither here nor there, I guess.
My gripe? With LK’s firing? I have none. His termination and Harlan’s competency are two separate matters. Plus, I did not state Harlan was incompetent, just that I had read something somewhere; hence, I was curious. my assessment of Harlan’s performance is neutral so far.
Your inference of my posting is not what I had in mind.
I hope it works out and I hope he’s remarkable.
I do find it interesting that so many programs in this state seem to hire just within the program or the state itself. It’s not like we’re Hawaii…
I really thought for sure that Gary Anderson was going to wind up coming back in some capacity. No hard feelings. Just don’t think that would have been reasonable at all.
Go UTES!
OK. Craig Smith. Seems like an opposite-field single, certainly not a home run. Maybe it’s unrealistic for fans to hope otherwise. Anyway, let’s hope he can win and generate fan enthusiasm. I’ll be in my seats next November. Go Utes!
I think the speed in which this was done after Alex Jensen declined suggests that Johnnie Bryant was not on Harlan’s list or, if he was, he was below Smith.
I wanted Giac, Boylen and LK to do great things at the U. I hope Smith does great things at the U.
