The “LOL” thread

Per the D-News, the LDS church is going to change the Sunday schedule to one hour of sacrament meeting (regular Sunday meeting) and two 25 minute blocks, one for Sunday School and one for youth, priesthood, etc.

The announcement is unremarkable, in itself. Church schedule news is pretty vanilla - some people care, others don’t, etc.

The comments on the article, however, contain a much higher entertainment factor, IMHO.

To be clear, in no way am I intending to disparage the church or anyone associated. Nothing malicious here, just some offbeat responses. I can’t tell if “Covenant Breaker” is serious or not. The next two are worthy of a giggle, just for their $.02. Human beings.

I wore Crocs when they were cool, and then the 15 year period where they were not cool, and this recent period that just past where they were cool again, and I will wear them forevermore. I break them out for special occassions.

I have a pair that is older than my children and is paper-thin in the sole. They look like decades old Crocs and they produce just the right amount of second-hand embarassment for the people who are with me when I wear them. You have to have the right amount of confidence and general apathy to wear Crocs unironically.

A dog and cat are in an art museum. They're looking at a painting, which consists of a big tennis ball and a red dot in the bottom corner of the painting. The dog is smiling and saying "I can't take my eyes of this piece!" The cat is looking at the red dot and is saying "It's mesmerizing."

Romey used to say “Soccer is not a sport, it’s a way to die.” Granted it was always previewed with a report of some soccer-related fan violence.

So far things have been pretty quiet, though. That said, when the US gets rolled out of the tourney, the Onion is going to be prophetic.

I think it is important for all those young out there, who someday hope to play real football, where you throw it and kick it and run with it and put it in your hands, a distinction should be made that football is democratic, capitalism, whereas soccer is a European socialist sport.

This article is a fun read on that.
