Right? I don’t care if people don’t like them. That’s fine. But they did have influence on music.
Exactly. Compare the songs on Please Please Me with the songs on Abbey Road. Two albums separated by only 6 years. But way different from each other. And each album in between showed growth and experimentation.
I really think you guys should figure out “overrated” doesn’t equal “hate.” I am HUGE a beach Boys fan. I find Brian Wilson to be one of the greatest song writers of all time. They are in fact overrated by guys like me.
The Beatles are great. Michael Jackson was great. Neither are as great as their hype. Also, these are just my opinions and like almost everyone in the world are awful and most likely wrong.
I do believe however Ringo’s drumming is severely underrated. The man doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
The Stones have an argument because of time but it’s a weak argument. Beatles easily had the greatest 10 year run. Only Michael Jackson could really rival The Beatles in popularity. I am not sure the way the world is now anyone can dominate like either The Beatles or MJ. All this said, popularity and record sales is not how I would judge music but is a totally fair metric if you want to use that for an argument.
I’m the weirdo that probably digs Wings, George & John’s Solo stuff to The Beatles as a collective. To me I look for “perfect songs” like Glenn Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman” to compare artists instead of record sales.
How bout Taxman? 1966? Whoah!
Good Lord man, you’ve been posting here long enough to know Newbomb doesn’t have a scintilla of a sliver of a feeling. He has to pull nose hairs to fake crying.
This is true.
Wichita Lineman a perfect song? Good, but…
Sky Pilot by Eric Burdon and the Animals on the other hand…
There are no notes to make that song better. It’s Glenn Campbell perfection. Much of Dolly Parton’s catalog is either perfect or near perfection. Same with Marty Robbins “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs” album. I’m not even a fan of country!
Agreed.
You’re right.
Stafford was almost always amazingly accurate.
This shows me Stafford owes a big check to Cooper Kupp. The Rams WR corp is the best in the league.
