riseandshout.net Day 4000
This seems like a very un-BYU like thing to do.
Given how teams are constructed today, it’s not a surprise that schools are taking a flyer on players from the G League who were drafted.
The whole damned thing is a train wreck, surrounding a dumpster fire overseen by a Space Shuttle explosion.

yes
Sort of like someone arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana only getting a 2 game suspension?
I hope this blows up in their faces.
“It’s never ideal to bring a player onto your team in the middle of the season” - Kevin Young.
Well… that would make it even less ideal if they leave to go chase money again when you’re pushing toward a post season run.
May this happen to you, Kevin Young.
Here’s hoping we see a lot of Poppinga Victories.
That was my first thought too. I had no clue that he was even coaching, but I don’t follow THEM enough to notice.
This is a big downgrade for TDS. Ha ha.
Hey, at least it’s snowing in the valley today.
TDS will blame that on us, too.
I’m a little alarmed at what I’m seeing in the hairstyles of the BYU basketball team members. I haven’t watched them at all this year but tuned into the Houston game tonight. I can’t imagine that many of these Cougar hairdos meet the hallowed standards at their sponsoring institution. What is going on down there? I mean, purchasing players with BYU boosters’ big bucks is one thing, but flouting the hair and dress standards? Say it isn’t so!
Make no mistake, Houston is very, very good. So are Kansas and Arizona. But still, BYU losing four in a row and five of six with that payroll is pretty funny. And it tells me Kevin Young doesn’t have a freaking clue how to coach college basketball.
I was wondering the same thing. #7 in your media guide definitely doesn’t meet the grooming code that I remember.
I’m not at all surprised.
I sort of assumed some time ago, when NIL became prominent, that honor code enforcement at BYU would have to fall by the wayside. It’s one thing to recruit non-LDS athletes, and pitch/sell them on the need to live by an institution’s rigid personal behavior codes, it’s another when you’re hiring someone quickly without a lot of time to gain familiarity, no long term commitment, and institutional behavior codes that are out of the ordinary.
[gasp] and many of them have… [shhh] tatoos.
My assumption is Kerri Jenkins has been sedated, listening to Paul James replays in a darkened room somewhere. The HC infractions just don’t have the same “mmmmmpft” they used to.
I guess they had to make some kind of a decision with Retzlaff since it was all over the news, and one of the hoops players got busted with a little Bob Marley while driving… which used to be considered a baddy down in Provo-town.
Imagine the pearl clutching if Buster Matheny had done the same thing. The pretzel gymnastics on CB after that was Olympic level. "A guy in my brother’s ward who is an attorney said it should be pretty easy to beat those charges".
OK.
If all this helps that ecosystem come down off their pedestal and have some tolerance for people not like them, it’s probably OK.
There are some truly funny people out there. Somebody named “1st Down Moses” on D-News:
Not even the cheap pinwheels and blowup dolls had an impact on this game.
Maybe they should deploy them behind their own basket when shooting foul shots for support and encouragement.
