That was about as dramatic of a finish as you will see in any sport. Congratulations to Herriman Utah product Spiff Sedrick!
A FINISH YOU HAVE TO SEE TO BELIEVE! 😱

And the women’s team lost to Germany in its opening game – the team looked terrible.
Hope you don’t mind, but I lifted that picture/meme and sent it out enmasse. Many many LOL responses!
Stealing.
“lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions” – Simone Biles
Quite an effective dig at MyKayla Skinner.
Yeah, what’s up with that? Reflects poorly on the Red Rocks champion. Not sure Lazy people become Olympic gymnasts.
I see that the US men’s and women’s 3x3 basket teams are maintaining a “perfect” record – o-fer.
Looking at the picture, the relay races must have been interesting.
Yup…and Skinner keeps on digging. Has yet to congratulate the team and apparently has now blocked Biles on social media. Also removed her original critical video.
The best part of the Olympics is observing grace. The grace of team. The grace of pain. The grace of winning and losing; of being among the most elite athletes. To be in the amber coated illuminicity of excellence.
Delayed reaction, here, but the young guy who was the Pommel Horse specialist on the Bronze medal men’s gymnastics team - a step up from previous Olympics - is also apparently a Rubics Cube wizard.
They interviewed him after his medal sealing performance, and noted he had a good day with the Rubics cube earlier in the day:
“Yeah, 9.3 seconds, haha!”
This kid has become an instant celebrity, he’s likable and fun… but on the 9.3 seconds claim… frankly, I suspect involvement of the occult.
There, I said it. I saw the Exorcist, I wasted hours on Rubics cubes in the 70s - something ain’t adding up, here.
His pommel horse performance was flat out amazing, though.
I’d like to see that.
Sounds disturbingly familiar… but as geeky as that might seem in retrospect, at least it was nothing like the early Olympics in Newbomb’s post
Don’t worry, it’ll be an Olympic sport soon!
Yes, there certainly wouldn’t be any confusion on which baton to grab !
Chills watching Simone Biles and Suni Lee win gold and bronze in Women’s all around in gymnastics. Bravo!
The height that Biles gets on tumbling passes is incredible.
I wonder what height she could clear in the high jump if she attacked it with a round off back layout.
Exciting finish to the women’s rode race (cycling). An American won gold after being a late addition to the team. I believe her strength is the track so winning the road race was pretty huge.
Yeah, hell of a finishing 3k. I don’t know anything about her, much to my loss. She raced a very smart race.
