NCAA Tournament

And most of their wins were blow outs against teams the sporting news has been drooling over all season. As Charles Barkley said the other night (and I paraphrase), “Hey you guys, you need to stay up a bit later to actually see the Pac-12 play before you declare everyone else the end all and be all.”

with all of the upsets in the tournament, did the selection committee do a poor job of seeding the tournament?

I think so. But, with limited inter-league play, it was tough to do. I think the committee got sucked into the rankings, which at best were incomplete.

Not from my perspective, they made it more interesting and fun to watch.

Ohio St had 10 losses and received a #2 seed. USC had 7 losses and received a #6. I’m too lazy to look up all the Net stuff, but …

I think it’s a throwback to the old crap that happened in the 80’s.

Well, Ohio St played Iowa, Michigan, and Purdue, so they must be good.

I agree that the Pac-12 received short shrift from the committee. As I understand it, they weighted early season wins more heavily than late season wins. I trust they learned something. On the other hand, how cool was it to see the Pac-12 dominate and literally blow minds?

I just hope UCLA is a fluke.

Would need lots of conferences to go along with it, but in some of the threads posted over the last few days, it’s been noted it would be a good move to have a lot of non-conferences games in later parts of the season so when a team is starting to hit their stride and rise to their potential, they can have a chance to play a quality team from another part of the country and if they win, elevate their standing as well as the conference’s standing. Right now almost all of the non-conference action is too early in the season.

Yep it’s a flawed system that leans heavily on a flawed system (net rankings). I mean seriously how was someone like Byu a single digit seed? Well it was supported by their net ranking, so…

Also I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some of the selection committee members didn’t even watch a Pac-12 team play prior to this past weekend.

It’s weird because the guy running the selection committee was University of Kentucky’s AD who’s old job was Oregon State’s AD.

And it is of course “interesting” that Louisville, projected to be in the tourney by most ‘bracketology’ predictions, ended up being first team out.

I’m Ok with Louisville being left out. Forever.

But how many does the power-league WCC have? #askingforafriend

It’s crazy that if LSU didn’t s*%$ the bed we would have zero Big 1G in the 16.

2 things about Loyola: they said Porter Moser grew up near Chicago and is coaching the team he cheered for as a child so maybe he doesn’t move and continues to build a great program there; refreshing to see a big man catch the ball on a pick and roll, keep it above his head, and lay it in. Too many big men put it on the floor too much.

Meanwhile I am asking “What is this Hoosiers?” I hate the style of this game.

Yeah, offense stinks in this one.

PAC12 will get at least 2 in the Elite 8

#6 in Pac12 to top 8 left. Wouldn’t have made the tourney w/o auto-bid. Fun when a team gets hot. Would love #12 v #11 in Elite 8. Syracuse is built.for a tournament. Their conference knows how to play them, but others don’t have the time to get good at it (kind of like prepping for a triple option fb team).
