It’s a really interesting mixture of arrogance (we will be in the CCG), defeatism (Tech will beat us again), along with anticipatory anxiety and anger that they’ll be left out of the CFP.
When they put on a show, it’s often one for the ages. If drinking suddenly became a commandment, the reaction down there might alter the rotation of the Earth.

Their fans have a strange “Tripolar Disorder.” It’s Bipolar, and includes a third pole…a massive inferiority complex.

It boils down to this: The worst BYU fans look down on the standards of “the world,” but they sure do want the world’s approval of their achievements.
[Note: I enjoy close friendships with some BYU fans who are realistic, generous, and don’t accept any of this double-minded nonsense.]
