More than that, it means room for Utah to get into the CFP. I’m having a beer and tequila to celebrate.
What kind of beer. What kind of tequila?
I happened to turn the radio on while driving today just to check on the score, and the game I guess was in its closing seconds. Hans Olsen offered one positive insight about the loss: BYU was able to “avoid a bloodbath.”
Seems like kind of a reach to me.
Someone on CB posted that Kilani deliberately lost to screw over the Utes. No joking.
Well, obviously. What major college coach wouldn’t throw a game for a reason like that?
I don’t understand how the Zoobs losing hurts us? At least we don’t have to listen to their insufferable crowing about being undefeated, and you know, shades of previous national titles et cetera…
The scenario went that if they won out and we won out, we were guaranteed to meet them in the conference championship game, because it gave tech a second loss, cinncy a second loss, and just created a big pile up at 7-2 and apparently we come out on top of that. But thats obviously gone and unless byu trips up against TCU or Cinncy, we are likely to see a byu-tech rematch in dallas (byu may have the tiebreaker anyway in a pile up at 7-2, i honestly dont know ).
Hot take: We are 13 in the cfp. In the chase for an at large bid, we are effectively 15th (we are currently ahead of all acc teams and everyone in g5). If we can win out and get to an effective rank of 11 by year end, we are probably in even without going to the big 12 title game, if championship saturday goes pretty close to chalk. Wed need Tech to drub BYU pretty badly. .
Welcome back Ben. Hope you’re ok after the loss today.
Oh good Lord, the copium flows freely in Provo.

I think I’m going to refer to Cougar fans as “Passionate 6th Graders” from now on. Something better? Throw it out there

“Add it all up, and it was one of the more embarrassing losses in BYU history, given the circumstances.”
I didn’t watch the game as I had more exciting things to do in trimming my toenails, but I saw on the bottom line ticker that BYU ran only 9 plays in the opponent’s territory. That is an amazing stat, and showcases how bad the beat was.
Also, TTU made 5 field goals, without those the game is much closer. Sound familiar folks?
Texas Tech is clearly the best defensive team in the conference. They were able to get pressure without blitzing very often. There DL stayed in their gaps and the LB’s were in position to stop 47 when the pocket broke down.
Tech does not have the best offense, but they are good enough to win most games.
I think Utah and BYU are pretty much even. They beat us by 3 and we had chances to win, but if we played again it would be a toss-up.
Sorry! read that as “pleasure” not pressure and laughed hysterically. Bad vision and a taudry sense of humor.
Get your mind out of the gutter, I need to float by. ![]()
