Fort Douglas becoming 100% U of U

If I recall correctly, this deal was made during David Gardner’s presidency. It took a number of years for it to be phased in. I recall him saying that there were others in competition for the land, I don’t know who, but he was pretty sure the U would get it. I wonder how they will use it? Anyone know?

What I know about Ft. Douglas is that Utah crushed them in football 129-0 in 1905. Good grief, what do you suppose the Ft. Douglas coach said to his team in the locker room at halftime down 70-0 or whatever it must have been?

We sure owned them that day, but now we literally own them.

Expand the medical center, hospitals and teaching schools? More dorms? More space for expanded athletic facilities?

Hopefully, they don’t tear anything down.

They have been refurbishing the old duplex officers houses next to Red Butte outdoor arena. I imagine they are staying and likely have historical merit. The old movie theater is a gem and is perfect for small performances.

Have to wonder if there will be something associated with the future Olympic village in mind. Didn’t they do something similar for the last Olympics?
