Family dog names from white folk: Ace, Buzz, Brutus/Buddy (mother changed his name), Thor, Monte, George (female), Sweetie (male), Joey, Luca Brasi, Lily, Millie, Oliver, Stan. My dog names from half white folk: Chewie (full name Chewbacca), Woody, and TimTim (甜甜, Cantonese for “sweetie”).

That video’s joke was stretched a bit and not very funny IMO.

How about nicknames/terms of endearment for your dog(s)? For my dog they’re Stinkpot, Wendy Whiner, but mostly Buddy.

I always called mine ■■■■■■■■ (from the movie The Jerk – “Don’t call that dog lifesaver, call him ■■■■■■■■” ). My wife yelled at me to not call him names but he kind of was a little prick.

Now we have two after the first passed away so they’re known among my friends (not my wife) as ■■■■■■■■ the First (deceased), ■■■■■■■■ II, and Ms. ■■■■■■■■■

OK, so that’s their formal terms of endearment, the casual ones are usually “goober”, “bubba”, “weenie”, and “butthole” (the last one when they’re not listening).

I thought this dog related article was pretty heartwarming. Dogs want to work, and this is as good a work as they can do.

Very heartwarming, btw I’m not crying, you’re crying. Love how dogs are so attuned to humans.

We’ve wondered over the years if any of our dogs could be therapy dogs. In reality, I think one of ours could do well, our youngest dog. He’s so friendly and loves being with people. He’s never met a stranger. Whereas our other dogs were either too nervous (2 of them) or too aloof (our 1st). Our biggest issue with the youngest is that he may be too friendly that he gets excited to meet new people. He gets a little rambunctious.

Im a fan. Not my most favorite breed but I’ve had a Frenchie and they’re a really fun breed.

French Bulldogs are great but they turn tail and run whenever a German Shepherd shows up.

If my wife didn’t have her own preferred type, I might have gotten a french bulldog or boston terrier years ago.

As I’ve gotten older however, I’ve grown to believe we should probably spay/neuter all brachycephalic breeds, (in)bred to flatten their faces and give them lifetime breathing problems. The same goes for breeds with heads too large for natural birth, which has significant overlap with the brachycephalic breeds. They shouldn’t be allowed to propagate.

Breeding health problems into your puppies is simply not cute to me anymore.

Thanks, I didn’t know that. Everyone tells me those breeds make excellent pet buddies, but we can have excellent pets without breeding them into a health problem.
