For example, Sinclair acquired Fox sports regional networks from Disney a few years ago.
Ok, this all smells like an anti trust situation.
No. Fox sports and news networks are not owned by Disney/ESPN.
No they’re not. ESPN only owns 21st century Fox. Not Fox Sports. Fox Corporation owns Fox Sports.
Arizona gone.
If AZ is indeed leaving, Utah needs to get off its high horse, tell the B12 how great they are and negotiate a move along with ASU. The B10 has shown no interest in Utah and that leaves very limited options.
Oregon and Washington want out. Some of the PAC teams are certainly going to be left behind- Oregon St and Washington St at least, and possibly Cal/Stanford. Getting left out during this round of musical chairs is pretty close to a death sentence. What does the MWC pay? 5m/yr?
The P12 has been awesome but the ship appears to be going down.
Does it bug anyone else when they refer to us as the four “Corner Schools,” instead of the “Four Corners” schools? The geographical reference is complete over the heads of Thamel, et al… But I guess geography doesn’t matter in any of this anymore.
The first time I heard them referring to the Four Corners schools, it took me back to more innocent days in the WAC, road games in Albuquerque on a nice September evening.
The UNM student body, feeling no pain: “Everyone’s a Lobo - Woof, woof, woof!”
Assuming The Utes are invited to the Big 12, I think the TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma State road football games will be very challenging, much like the Oregon / Washington / USC away football games.
Big 12 basketball will be brutal for the Running Utes.
We will DOMINATE skiing in B12. ![]()
Texans trying to ski are the absolute worst.
Also gymnastics ![]()
Correct. Especially since Oklahoma is leaving for the SEC.
What the hell?
This is certainly not what I expected to be reading this morning.
I think we are underestimating the power of CFP expansion. Keep the PAC intact and add a school or two. Easier path to the playoff. If you are UW, do you really want to fight through Mich, OSU, USC, etc?
I’ll say this. This is some real drama. I just wonder when we’ll actually know that things have stabilized…meaning, that we are either staying in a “stabile” PAC, or moving on to the Big12 (or wherever). I hope it’s sooner rather than later.
Heard a few rumblings that those teams weren’t particularly keen on adding another two difficult opponents to the schedule either.
I 100% expected there to be three new B12 teams (Utah, AZ, ASU) and two new B10 teams (OR, WA) by tomorrow, at the latest. The fact that the P12 might actually stay together is wild. I would have given that option about a 10% chance yesterday.
Either way, we’ll dominate skiing and women’s gymnastics. No doubt about it. ![]()
