Death of the PAC12 thread — and what happens to Utah

Classy.

We won 7 PAC10 titles this year. Always compete Nationally in W’s Gymnastics, skiing, lacross, etc.

Yeah… Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, West Virginia … It is probably a good cultural fit.

That would be some pretty impressive foresight in 2021. Geography aside for ucf and cincy - and getting past the research narrative
(which ultimately was not that relevant in the end, or Utah and the four corners would have chosen to stayed tied to cal and Stanford if it were) BYU is a perfectly fine athletic school relative to Utah and the remaining 8 pac teams (the 8 pac schools that are not big ten bound. )

Also Cincy did the exact same thing Utah did - busted the playoff as a g5. Why wouldn’t we want to see g5 like Utah and many in the big xii get opportunities after building a program? Should Utah have been the final g5 school to ever have gotten “promoted”

To your point I’d have loved the final outcome to have been 6 of those 8 pac schools (leave Stanford and cal) plus byu plus the best remnants of the big xii

Of course 2021 to 2023 is a downgrade for Utah and it sucks

In fact, CU is now the only B12 school in a blue state. Having spent 20 years in TX, I just can’t seem to get away from it. Sigh…

That is Minnesota however…

A lot of potential scheduling changes. Baylor in 2024, Houston in 2026 and 2027, and BYU 2024-2028 and 2030.

I can’t remember who exactly this happened to (maybe Pitt leaving Big East for ACC), but a few years ago was a situation like this. They played the previously scheduled game as a nonconferenc game anyway and it didn’t count for conference standings.

A pretty good summary. Sounds like Kliavkoff really blew it.
University of Utah departing decimated Pac-12 conference for the Big 12.

There’s some irony in that article.

It’s written by a BYU beat writer because the Trib still hasn’t bothered to replace Josh Newman.

Soon I need to leave what USC and UCLA did in the rearview mirror, but this morning, I was contemplating one fact: they did not need to do what they did. It wasn’t essential. It was a matter of pure greed. They chose to destroy the Pac 12.

I assume you meant greed. But breed actually fits too.

Of coarse I meant greed.

Breed works because Southern Cal and UCLA think they are thoroughbreds, but in reality they are quarter horses just like the rest of us.

I feel bad for the fans of the teams left behind. The leadership of all the schools that jumped ship were part of the mismanagement of the PAC12, and they are left to suffer the consequences.

Here’s to you Beavers, Bears, Cougars of the north, and Trees.

FTFO!

News to me. (I guess I’ll start checking KSL.com for sports news.) His comments on Riley’s show about the TV deals were excellent.
