I fear the feeling isn’t mutual thus far.
We went from one snake oil salesman to another. Go utes
I don’t know what the Big12 TV deal is, but there is no way Fox/ESPN televise 8 games each week. Are the remainder on ESPN+?
BamaFanNKY, I don’t always agree with you, but you are right more often than wrong with me.
As for the Cyclone fan, see the attached
Sorry………….
FTFO!
If there is anything good coming out of the collapse of the PAC, it is that Utah gets a full share in the B12 and byu does not. LOLOLOLOL indeed!
I can hardly wait to see our football schedule for 2024. Since we now will have to play byu-provo as a conference game (goddammit), we should be able to pick up another non-conference game. Maybe Southern Cal will be interested in coming RES in September.
Welcome! Please forgive us if we’re a little out of sorts at the moment…it’s been a weird couple of weeks.
I’m definitely looking forward to playing in the rowdier B12 environment. 3/4 empty stadiums for half our games was not exactly inspiring, no matter the outcome of the games. Passionate instead of apathetic fanbases are definitely a plus, IMO.
I’m not sure the B12 quite understands how heated the Utah/BYU rivalry really is. I’m hoping that taking a bit of a break will cool things off a bit, but there’s lots of bad blood there between fans (I have no idea if the current players still care at all). Have to admit, there were some pretty epic MWC games between TCU, BYU, and Utah and it’ll be interesting to see those renewed.
All in all, this is the best outcome for us and we (well, I) am very grateful that we have a new home.
I expect the Utes to immediately compete with my Wildcats, Baylor, OSU, TCU for football titles. But I can’t lie. PAC 12 hoops outside of Zona doesn’t get much play in this part of the country. How are Utah hoops gonna match up against Kansas. Kansas State. Baylor and Texas Tech?
What about your other sports?
We are going to struggle for a while. Men’s hoops has been down for a few years.
But our women’s bball team, softball team, volleyball, and gymnastics are top notch.
Hoops is definitely a work in progress.
Other sports range from excellent (women’s gymnastics) to overwhelmingly dominant - the Ski Team.
Seriously, we’re a cold weather school for baseball, but at least we have a team, unlike CU. Softball went to the World Series after being picked 9th in the PAC. Gymnastics is a big revenue sport, went to the NCAA finals, came in 3rd, IIRC.
Title IX and the long, slow build from pre-PAC irrelevance mean other sports are also a project. Football definitely pays the bills, Hoops could take awhile to be competitive.
Our ski team is awesome, too.
Skiing is a way of life, that goes back at least 2,000 years (possibly 5,000). I wasn’t really intending to become part of the Crimson Club, but was surprised when a couple years ago my support of the ski team made me such. A sport that combines men and women, alpine and nordic. I’ll be heading to Steamboat Springs for the 2024 NCAA skiing championships.
Football, like many other sports, is a made up pretend game, that goes back, what, about 150 years, whose rules change seemingly every year.
Hey what about our men’s lacrosse team? Let’s not forget about them.
Oh yeah? So is K-States. . That’s pretty amazing. I would have never even thought about a college ski team. You know with all our mountains in Kansas.
You’re going to have to get used to playing games at 5000 feet above sea level when you’re in SLC, Provo, and Boulder. That is something you flatlanders have no clue about.
Utah, being a big red state, fits the B12 perfectly.
