Easy. Remove athletic programs from higher education. Hehe
Having them in the Big 12 would be great.
âŚyeah. The BIG 12 isnât an actual option.
All these people running these schools and athletic departmentsâŚitâs like they have A.D.D. They are so distracted by revenue dollar signs they arenât looking at the costs. When they go start complaining they canât control their expenses, this is when real change will happen.
Someone was going to get screwed in a four team Belle of the Ball CFP. This year, congrats to FSU for being that team.
Guess what? Someone is going to get screwed next season by being left out of the 12-Team CFP AND one team in the playoff will get screwed into playing an extra game in the playoffs (at least that is what they will claim).
Oh well, after Saturday I can flip the ignore switch, make my clam chowder with cheddar biscuits, and enjoy the rest of Christmas and the new years season.
Everything you need to know about NIL:
I mean, Lamar Jackson should get it. Or CMC. But Purdy probably will. Wouldât it be funny if his brother got more in college then he did in the pros?
Theyâd be worth a trip to Tallahassee, and one of the few schools Iâd be excited for our Utes to play.
I occasionally see these NIL vs pro salary comparisons. I think they are a bit deceiving. NIL money is basically endorsement money IMO. I donât think a lot of colleges are digging into their endowment money to bring in athletes. On the other hand, pro salaries are well documented. What isnât documented for the pros is their endorsement money.
I donât know how much Brock Purdy is getting in endorsements. Maybe it isnât a lot. But he will likely get paid sooner or later as an athlete, and still have endorsement opportunity. Comparing NIL money to a highly structured and limited salary scale for the NFL while ignoring other revenue streams doesnât tell the real story - but it makes for a catchy meme.
And NIL money is often inflated when stated, mostly by agents to drive the market higher. What an athlete actually sees is almost always less (well, even after taxes) or some is the value of goods or services, like a 6 month lease of a truck that canât be driven out of state.
So FSU is going to go âFull State of Floridaâ on the GOR and will cry fraud if their legal trick gets set aside.
If they really want to go I am sure their boosters can find the buyout money. The State wonât have any help for them, though.
I cant imagine them doing this unless they had pretty good assurances of a landing spot. Cant think it would be the Big XII. You would only do this for the SEC or (unlikely) the Big 10
This type of sh!t â I meant twaddle â is irritating. Not unlike NBA/NFL/etc contract situations in which players hold-out before their final year because they wanted better deals. You signed a contract and you live by it, honor it â doesnât mean you have to be happy about it. Just canât change it on a whim.
Iâm hungry now.
Bowl season has interesting and exciting matchups between teams and conferences that donât usually get to play each other. And then it has whatever the hell this is between Georgia Tech and UCF. This might be the most boring football game Iâve ever seen.
Iâll admit to being a little jealous when they said Ga Tech had two players hit the portal this year. Two. One starter and one reserve lineman.
Does it make you feel any better that the Utes got a key DB transfer from Georgia Tech?
The Vanderbilt one was the best.
As a season tix holder of Vandy (Yes, I have them and Tennessee State) itâs the one that resonates. The only school to schedule stadium expansion DURING THE FREAKING SEASON!
That was great! Spot on to the point of âOuchâ for some of those schools.
