College football thread, non-Utah edition

Post anything about college football here.

Norte dame looks like JV playing against the varsity. The score is closer than the game.

Also, the Harris hurdle is one of the best I’ve ever seen. He went for forty yards after that jump.

Ohio missing four guys for next game. DE Zach Harrison, OG Harry Miller, RB Master Teague, DL Tyler Friday.

Good lord it’s boring watching the same half dozen teams compete for the title every single year.

I get that success leads to success but with the gulf between the haves and the have-nots growing wider every year, it’s just going to continue to be this way for the foreseeable future.

It’s more than six teams but I am not sure how you make it more equitable unless you actually do the right thing and allow kids to be paid.

Well, scholarship limits would do it without turning it into a minor league. I think more equitable scheduling and an expanded playoff could help as well. Finally, for my crazy socialist friends, I continue to think there should be a salary cap for each team.

We already have scholarship limits. I do think (see another post I did) a 16 team playoff with all conference champs can help.

Yeah, the only thing I can see in the short term is expanding the playoff.

We do have limits, but lowering the limit spreads the wealth. That’s an easy lever to pull.

25 scholarships to what? 20?

I think Dynasty programs are inevitable but it’s cyclical.

While I’d prefer a playoff, the committee seems to have gotten 3 out of 4 teams right. The four seed could’ve gone several ways.

Yes I think the playoff has generally always resulted in a consensus champion that most people can agree on.

I really wish there was at least 8 with all P5 Conf champs. I think Oklahoma and Oregon could do some damage in this playoff.

wonder if Dabo regrets ranking Ohio St #11?

He gave the two #1s out of respect.

I’m always amazed at how much chip-on-the-shoulder motivation stuff works in college athletics.

I’m curious if Fields has broken ribs. If he does, he may not be able to play in 10 days.

All I know is I wish Tommy Togiai was a Ute and not a Buckeye.
