Everything I have read says Akana is going out of state, most likekly the sEC. There was a photo of the LSU private gulfstream at the Provo airport yesterday poseted on Colugarboard, and they all thought it was for him.
how many times have we seen these young kids go far away to school and then eventually migrate back because it wasnt a good fit ?The cultural differences between Baton Rouge and Utah County are about as extreme as you can get I would think.
Utah football and 2023 QB commit Mack Howard — winning by unapologetically being themselves
This is from The Athletic so it’s paywalled:
Nothing screams home for a Mississippi prospect like Salt Lake City, Utah.
This recruitment may seem like an odd fit because of geography alone, but it makes perfect sense for both sides when you take a deeper look. Howard is actually the perfect illustration of why Utah football, which has now won the Pac-12 in consecutive seasons, has been so successful. Howard and Utah are unapologetically themselves, and they found each other because of it.
This quote – “But impeccable physical specimen doesn’t always mean good athlete.” – is often where people (i.e, average/illogical fans) fail to understand what it takes. As a former D1 athlete – a very average one at that – it was amazing for me to see what it takes to “succeed” in D1. Professional level is just another stratosphere.
Yes and also the whole cohesiveness of Utah football over the years. How “family on three” and 22% better are not just phrases but ingrained ideologies that all stakeholders buy into and contribute to.
Singer to U$C - predictable
Pyne (ND starting QB) to ASU. Williams, Nix, Penix all staying, UCLA got 5* qb to flip from Oregon (easier with Nix staying). Prime time making noise. It’s going to be a ride next year.
Defense and depth will be critical. I think Utah has a chance to 3-peat, but no one will be undefeated but still could be a monster year for PAC12.
Didn’t know where to post this, but it seems to fit here.
