Class of 23 football recruits

Speaking of byu’s defense, what happened to the Dlineman that de-commited from Utah and went to byu? If their pass rush was so awful, why didn’t he play this year?

Why would you hope for such a wicked thing?

Doesn’t @RockerUte know saying such things can get your fan card revoked?

Their fans will be at maximum insufferability if your hope for a good defense comes true.

Don’t forget they’re always the off season national champs, just ask’em.

I like Jay, too, but I’m not worried about them becoming really good.

  • Now in a conference where there’s no weeks off, and the coaches have talent & coaching skill enough to exploit any weakness.

  • Serious recruiting obstacles that allow them to get some good players, and some via the Portal, but really struggle getting the depth they’ll need to be solid week to week. (Like the poster on CB who has players crash at his place during downtime, listing issues the players gripe about: “Honor Code - no comment”.)

  • Over time, if they manage to adjust to and overcome the first two issues, the travel will make their fanbase even more insane, as they have at least a couple of head-scratcher losses every year.

I have admiration for Sitake, Hill, Roderick & Raelon Singleton (if he’s still a GA there)… but I’m more worried about how they’ll get the cannibal treatment, which is inevitable.

Something BYU fan won’t admit.

When Utah joined the P12, Utah was good. But their recruiting wasn’t. BUT, they came into the P12 recruiting around 8th in the league.

BYU is last in Big 12 recruiting and it’s not close.

And BYU has obstacles Utah doesn’t.

Where Utah (and BYU) have excelled is in transfers. We don’t get the 4 star guy out of high school, we get him later (as does BYU). The problem BYU has, is their transfers were LDS guys from big time schools. Like Damuni.

And he’s at Utah. Look at BYU’s COVID team:

Wilson- Utah didn’t offer a scholarship

Empey - transfer from Utah
Hoge - transfer from ND
Khyiris Tonga - transfer from Utah

If those players don’t go to BYU anymore but go to Utah instead…they are sunk.

Reality will bite them soon enough. There will be schadenfreude all across the fruited plain, with laughing and pointing of fingers towards Provo.

It’s got to be the highest rated class we will have ever brought in.

He is going to stay in high school until summer to run track. Whittingham did the same thing for Nate Johnson.

Oh yeah. It’s all coming together.

If all sign, we will break the top 20 for the first time. Not that it matters until we start playing next fall and we see the talent on the field.

The only thing I do know in this situation is generally success breeds success.

Not recruiting but some possible good news

The class is looking fantastic. I had been concerned that NIL would hamper Utah’s recruiting but this is not looking to be the case thus far. Obviously we all know what Utah offers these prospects- a solid program with solid training, honesty, chance to play on the biggest stage, and a great platform to launch into the NFL if they are talented enough.

Given the expanded playoff, Utah appears set to be competitive for conference championships and playoff bids for years to come. Exciting stuff!

Anyone know where Tausili Akana is leaning? It would be really fun to land him giving Utah 3 of the top 4 and 6 of the top 10 in-state recruits.
