Let’s see…Bama struggles with a 5-6 team but will easily be in the CFP. Utah struggles with a 5-6 team and won’t get a sniff. Both of us finish 10-2.
My guess is that the SEC and Big 10 will get 9 of the 12 bids.

Utah will also finish without a win over a ranked team. Our best win is over 8-4 ASU.
While the Florida State loss is bad (and is more and more head-scratching), Bama has wins over 5 ranked teams this year.
If you didn’t already love Devon Dampier, this may help:
How Utah quarterback Devon Dampier learned leadership from his brother with autism
We’ve been fortunate to have a lot of high quality individuals in Utah athletics over the years, but Dampier has to be right up in the top tier with how he handled his little brother’s situation, and how that helped him become a real leader.
“He was definitely like a little teacher,” Kesha said. “I think that’s kind of where his leadership comes from; he hears people out, he cares, and he’s patient. He wants to know your story.”
“It was a good lesson for all Devon’s teammates to watch how he looked out for his younger brother,” Frazier said. “Isn’t that true about football? You’ve got to have each other’s back.”
Giovando says Devon made sure “Dom was treated just like everyone else,” and says he thinks it’s shaped how the quarterback connects with everyone, not just his close teammates.
“When you learn that trait of, it’s not about me, it’s about the other people — my teammates, my family, and my friends — that shows that you’re battle-tested," Giovando said.
These small moments added up, each one part of a quiet transformation. Today, Dominic lives a typical life. Most people wouldn’t even realize he’s on the autism spectrum, those closest to him say.
If you ask Devon Dampier, real team bonding doesn’t occur in the locker room — it happens over heaping plates of breakfast in Salt Lake City.
“You don’t necessarily remember all the dinners or breakfasts,” Dampier said. “But you get to know each other, and you just get to feel at home when you continuously talk to people without your phone.”
I was kind of surprised by this. The guy in the top frame sounds like a BYU fan, but maybe he’s not.
Maybe our fan base is just different from most B12 schools. Most of them are in smallish university towns, only 5 of them are AAU, members, etc.
I suspect many in the Big XII didn’t do their research on BYU fan, and BYU fan in previous conferences. Personally I don’t have an issue with the Big XII. It’s not the PAC or the BIG. IMO any of these guys saying that they wouldn’t jump into the BIG pool are lying through their teeth. Would we, as Utah fans prefer the PAC-12 or the BIG to the Big XII, yes. Hell, even the 3 of the 4 4-Corner schools would prefer the PAC-12 to the Big XII.
As a fanbase are we disappointed in the Big XII? Nah, I don’t think so. We know that the PAC is toast and had some crappy assed leadership. Big XII definitely made us jealous in that regard. Yes, we’d prefer the BIG, but that is not in the cards, at least not in the near future. Do we expect NCAA football to change even more? Yup, and maybe not for the better.
As for the dudes on Facebook, bleh. They’re looking to stir the pot. So, screw’em, and turn FB off.
Total zoob
My only question on this video is, “Who are you and why should I care?”
From a competitiveness standpoint (remember, that video is from early September), he’s not wrong. Both BYU and ASU brought a lot more to the table that Utah did last year. Of course, if you followed the overall trajectory and looked at reality, you’d realize last year was a fairly extreme outlier due to catastrophic injuries…but that doesn’t get clicks.
Also, the dozen or so extremely obnoxious, always online Utah fans that were running their mouths constantly (seriously, there were like six jackholes who were EVERYWHERE last year) did us no favors in terms of perception. If I didn’t know anything about Utah coming in and those were the only dudes I encountered, I’d think we were incredibly annoying too.
However, the funniest part of that video is the crux of his argument, which is:
That’s what I guess I don’t understand. They would jump to the Big 10 in a heartbeat if ever given the opportunity and they don’t really want to be in this thing.
My brother, every school in the B12 would jump to the B10 in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. Every. Single. One. Without a single exception.
Quit acting like wanting to be at the big kids table makes Utah fans somehow uniquely bad. Every damn school wants that opportunity.
In honor of Bill Walton, I’ll start the rumor that the next segment in their discussion was about Kenworth vs Peterbilt, and law enforcement had to be called to restore order.
And let’s be honest.
There’s a certain school whose fan base has spent an insanely inordinate amount of time and energy to undermine the Utes.
I agree. That was embarrassing and a lot.of other schools’ fans will long.remember it. I guess that’s just part of being in a fan base like ours–a few of.
us still trying to adapt to fanhood at the P4 level and not doing it well.
Some in our fanbase can be added to that statement. Fortunately they’re not here.
Well, the final “Bottom 10” has arrived; and though they strived to reach #1, Okie State - like their season - missed it by that much.
Enjoy
For those that miss the PAC12 Network (I know I do), on Amazon Prime, under the Live TV option is the Big XII Studio Channel.
Checking the schedule, they are showing some condensed games for Texas Tech. I wish I found this earlier, I’d love to rewatch some of Utah’s games.
Didn’t realize that there was a Big XII channel. I watch all sorts of other channels on it.
Is it the old Longhorn Network? I know Texas was so self obsessed when it launched they demanded it be called that.
I have a sick feeling that TDS is going to win today. Ugh!
Zoobs playing tough and catching Tech off guard
Tech has stepped it up now.
I’m not rooting for TT I’m just rooting against BYU.
