- kidding, but not kidding.
21-0 early in the 2nd quarter. May get to rest everyone 2nd half.
Wherever they end up, I hope they get seal clubbed in the playoff.
It was my grad school, but it’s been an interesting season. Actually, a lot of parallels with Utah. I would say it would be pretty even if they played. It was fun listening to the Backyard Brawl while driving back home from KU. Was going to stay and watch from a hotel, but a potential storm was sweeping across today.
If, however, they knock out ND, Miami, or BYU from CFP (byu out bad for conference, but I don’t care), I’ll be fine with that ;). Sark calls some questionable plays, their OL is not good (bad running game), and D is mixed. TAMU had an EASY schedule, so were ripe. Tired of rhetoric that 5/6 SEC teams are better than all but maybe 1 Big12 teams.
28-0 now.
BYU now down 14-0 haha
I love it! It won’t hold up, but I can’t wait to see what Y fans say if it’s a close, ugly BYU win. They will spin it as a gritty effort or blame ot on the refs or the early start time or Thanksgiving hangover. But they mocked Utah’s last two wins.
College football can be so strange. A week after running all over Utah and scoring 47 points (albeit in a loss, of course), Kansas St. has managed just 7 points and 3.1 yards a carry through two quarters against Colorado.
Zoobs get a call. They fumbled on the one yard line but it got overturned because the refs said forward motion was stopped. UCF coach was steamed.
UCF’s coach needs to learn to live right… on and off the field.
BYU just might get into the playoffs, even if they lost again to TT (which I expect). But they will get rolled, and I will enjoy it.
same thing happened vs KU. Depends on if the whistle blew. Totally a timing judgment call.
Unless there’s mass chaos above them in the afternoon games, I think they’re far more likely to get jumped by Miami (currently crushing a ranked Pitt) this week than move into a top-10 spot where they would get an at-large bid.
Their only possible path is to beat TTech in the CCG and I don’t see that happening.
BYU being left out as an 11-win team would be a first (they were bumped last year due to an 11-win SMU CCG loser). If it happened, Big 12 would push a drive for 16-team playoff, but no one will listen. Only when 9-3 Texas is left out will the SEC push for it. It’s the SEC-B1G show …
Honestly, I think Utah, BYU, Texas are all pretty similar teams that are in that 1st four left out group (although I think Miami and ND should also be in that group). Lots of 10-2 teams from 11-20 that are pretty much indistinguishable - good teams with some flaws of the team or warts on the resume.
For the record, I think a 1-loss BYU should absolutely get in over a 2-loss Miami or ND.
But it won’t happen.
Well, they will get in with 1-loss … they will be Big 12 champs. But 11-1 going CCG def should be over 10-2 not going to CCG. So win or lose, they shouldn’t be punished for losing in CCG.
We know they will bend over backwards to get Miami, ND, and Texas in, but there just aren’t enough spots. And it would be really hard to explain why 11-2 byu didn’t get in over 10-2 (or 9-3!) teams that didn’t play in a CCG.
It’s said Yormark is doing stuff behind the scenes, but he needs to be open and public and the coaches too. Salani staying ‘focused on the game’ and not giving some push doesn’t help, but they also did needed to win today otherwise they would look foolish for premature lobbying. Sark was all about the playoff last night.
They made a big deal this year of saying that the final CFP rankings will be determined by regular season records only and that losses in a CCG won’t have any affect on the final seedings.
Color me…skeptical.
I’m too lazy to look it up, but I recall that there was some backtracking or doublespeak around that stance. Something leading to believe that being blown out of a CCG would be detrimental to a team’s playoff resume.
If this happens, watch the committee seed them so they play at TT in the first round.
They make up the rules as they need to in order to stack it with SEC and Big10
