Here’s a thread for the September 21 battle with Oklahoma State. We will not be going into this game as the Big12 favorites, IMO, and that probably bodes well. The Utes seem to do their best as underdogs. I’m hoping we’ll see a breakout game for the guys in red.
True. I’m just talking about the way the Utes are seen now. Pundits are already saying, “Well, maybe they’re not all we thought they were,” and not just because of USU. The team will be going into Stillwater with something to prove. I think that’s good.
The line moved from OSU -3 to Utah -2. Does OSU have some big injury? I wonder what caused this shift? I think this is going to be a very difficult task for Utah, though a doable one.
Likely people putting money on Utah (do they know Cam is playing or at least practicing this week?). Maybe just how people were betting, but wonder if Oliver (OSU LB) is still out.
Does seem like Ollie Gordon (preseason Big 12 pick for Offensive Player of the Year) hasn’t been very productive (40-50 yards/game, avg 2.5-3 yards/carry) since opening the season with 125 yards against SDSU (FCS version). Wonder if there is a little ailment going on there. OL is experienced.
@LAUte - I think PFF is an org that rates players at all positions (pro and college). Pretty reliable.
Yikes. I’ve been to Sep games in Austin and they are brutal. Hopefully it takes the edge off of the crowd and if we get a little lead, maybe some will bail early. We better have a good system to keep the guys hydrated, rotated, and cool.
They should be playing these games in the evening instead. There is nothing quite like a stadium full of hot weather injuries waiting to happen.
Heat noted, all indications are that Cam will start on Saturday. Hopefully he learned something from seeing Lamar Jackson taking sideline hits on Sunday. The announcers were wondering why one of the heavier hits didn’t get flagged, only to be reminded Jackson plays like an extra running back and those don’t get called on RB’s.
Here’s what Pete Thamel says, for what it’s worth:
“Well we did see him in practice yesterday, Victoria, and he is cleared and expected to play,” Thamel said to Victoria Arlen on ESPN’s CollegeFootball Live . “I think it’s notable, he was not cleared to play in Saturday’s game and did not practice last week. So everything is pushing towards Cam Rising playing in Stillwater on Saturday…
“Here’s where the drama lies, he had a glove on his hand in warm ups at Utah State and he wore one in practice so far this week. He had a dislocated finger on his throwing hand, and my understanding, there were some stitches near that finger,” Thamel explained. “Those injuries are obviously healing, so will he or won’t he have a glove on his throwing hand in Stillwater is one of the big questions we’ll be watching in pregame warmups.”
