Timely post. Today (9/19) is “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”.
Arrrrrrr!

When he got off the bus in Logan I looked and he only had a small gauze bandage on the ringer finger of his throwing hand.
I noticed he seemed to be throwing pretty gingerly in the USU pregame, but at least he was throwing which was good news. A lot of healing and mobility can change in a week even for a senior citizen like Cam if he keeps up on his Ensure and prunes.
Hey don’t knock Ensure and prunes. They keep my gut happy, and I’m sure they keep Cam’s too.
Whoever starts, I hope they play lights out and get the stadium emptied out at halftime ala Iowa State.
A thing of beauty like that and maybe the pollsters will like us better. Yeah the polls don’t matter much if we win the conference and a win in Stoolwater would be a good start.
We have good LBs, but I really liked seeing former safety Johnathan Hall #3 getting a lot of snaps at LB. I don’t know what his weight is now, but he could fairly easily get to 225 lbs without losing his impressive athleticism.
Utah football: Why is Johnathan Hall switching positions – Deseret News
In this game I hope Reid’s ready to roll. Sione Fotu has been coming on, so he’s a good LB3, with Hall as LB4. But Hall has a bright future at LB, IMO.
Just got an ESPN notice that Rising is a “game time decision”.
Coach speak of course, but definitely PTSD and ‘here we go again’. Guessing a gloved hand which will impact grip and throws
At least we will see the broadcast today without having to buy a special subscription.
Snip from The Athletic:
Rising left Utah’s Week 2 win against Baylor with a hand laceration and sat out its 38-21 win over Utah State on Saturday in favor of backup Isaac Wilson. When he has played, he has been a difference-maker, already throwing seven touchdowns on his first 29 pass attempts. Granted, those games came against FCS Southern Utah and a Baylor team that won three games a year ago, but he has still looked outstanding and is showing no signs of having missed the entire 2023 season.
Going on the road against a top-15 team will be the first big test of the season for him and the Utes offense.
They will also need to be on their game to keep up with an Oklahoma State offense that has scored at least 35 points in every game this season behind a strong offensive line and passing game.
While running back Ollie Gordon (the 2023 Doak Walker Award winner) has yet to make a huge impact on the ground, the passing game led by quarterback Alan Bowman has been outstanding. That could be a big opening for the Cowboys against a Utah secondary that has struggled at times this season despite not yet playing a top-tier passing offense.
I saw this on Facebook. I’m not upset about this, but I am starting to see how a big chunk of the fan base could reasonably be upset. Or at least tired of this.
I’m normally a positive ute fan but can someone explain to me how a cut on a finger is going to change within 5 hours… 1000 percent they’ve already decided. I can’t wait till the NCAA starts forcing colleges to have a true injury report like the NFL. I get you want to “keep the other team on their toes” but after doing this every single game last year, I’m over it. Waiting till 5 minutes before kickoff, having him come out in full pads, take all the snaps like he’s playing just be ruled out, is getting old.
This decision was made on Wednesday, just like it’s always made on Wednesday for a Saturday game. The reason is to make sure the starter gets the practice reps they need to be ready to play.
If the reports are true Cam didn’t take reps on Wednesday or Thursday, he’s not starting. Since practices are closed, only the team really knows the truth here.
I don’t understand this at all. The coaches will do what is best for the players and the team. The fans are going to get the best product on the field that can be realistically offered. The entitled whining from the Utah fan base reminds me once again how similar many of them are to the zoobs.
Well said. Spot on!
Plenty of Red Zoobs around. Roobs? Haha
Cam wearing a glove on his throwing hand in warmups.
Ok kid…let’s see what you’re made of.
Every Ute fan just thought WTF
