America's Pastime

@SanDiegoUteFan, here’s what is happening to my Dodgers. Years ago an evil warlock from Carlsbad cursed the Boys in Blue. They are doomed to lose every post-season championship to any team that wears one of the three ugliest uniforms in the NL. When they play the Padres there’s no second place for that distinction, so the Dodgers’ prospects are dim. I’ve always wondered: Were the Pads’ uniforms designed by a diehard Wyoming Cowboys fan?

Boom. Dodgers are on the ropes. Padres can send them home for the winter tomorrow.

as a life long SF Giants fan I have no dog in the fight, but Machado was clearly out of the base path in that second inning and should have been called out. But credit to him for getting away with it. Clever move by him blocking that throw from Freeman.

I expect Dave Roberts to whine about that call incessantly, because what else does he have left?

Padres and Mets have all the momentum from late in the season through the early part of the playoffs. Getting that first round bye hasn’t worked out for the teams that secured it over the last few years.

Yeah, Freeman gave him props for getting away with it.

Tip of the cap to the Dodgers tonight. They SMOKED my Padres in impressive fashion. It’s going to be for all the marbles in Los Angeles now.

Edit: exhale.

Great series from the Friars.

Finally got to the NLCS again. GO DODGERS!

Either team could’ve won that series, SDUF. The Pads were in it until their last batter. They are the team I hate to see the Dodgers playing.

Congrats!

7 more wins to go.

Hilarious I agreed with LAUte and now the dodgers have gone 33 innings without giving up a run.

It was good to see the Dodger bullpen left their gas cans in the locker room.

Baseball is a crazy game.

During the summer I watch the Dodgers a lot, but when the playoffs start, anything can and does happen. Winning 111 games in the regular season doesn’t guarantee anything except you get to play some more games.

If anyone told me the Dodgers would tie some record for number of innings holding an opponent scoreless, I would have thought they were high as a kite. The Dodgers’ pitching has been “an adventure” this year, to put it kindly.

Maybe the Dodgers will win the NLCS, maybe they won’t. 50-50, at best.

That’s baseball.

Another grand slam this afternoon. How many is that this post season overall?

…and today the Dodger pitching brought a tanker truck of gas to the mound. :man_facepalming::man_facepalming::man_facepalming:

Hope the Shoh Show, Mookie and Freddie can find some hits soon.

Annnd…the pitching showed up again last night. So did Ohtani. How long will this last?

Ohtani has been pretty consistent. Yes, it was nice to see the pitching show up. Hopefully they can squeeze two more wins out and move on to the World Series.

I think he’s saving the energy for the World Series. lol

It’s more like it just goes missing for a game.

WOW: The Dodgers have scored 8+ runs in 3 games this series

only teams to do so more in a single postseason series:

1993 TOR WS: 4
1960 NYY WS: 4

Flaherty needs to have a loooong appearance tomorrow, 6 innings.

Roberts has pushed all the chips forward on pitching with all the relievers to keep the Mets off balance. I think it’s been brilliant.

They need to get this wrapped up, pronto.
