My son tells me of some discussion about the stud guard from Israel, Noam (can’t remember last name). Because he was born in 2004, he’s automatically eligible for the draft, doesn’t need to back out.
It’s possible he gets drafted in the NBA draft, but it seems unlikely he’d get a guaranteed contract, probably not a lotto pick. If he gets a two-way offer from an NBA team, it probably doesn’t make sense for him to take that, he’ll make more money at Utah.
Cautious optimism on him being here in the fall.

The Athletic’s latest projection has Yaacov going 51st overall to Washington, noting him as one of the players who has improved the most. He started at a G League training camp and advanced to an NBA camp, where he showed physicality and an ability to control the tempo against other likely draft picks. A relatively small number of players entered this year’s draft, which could improve his chances.
Second-round picks usually receive two-year contracts with a third-year option, and that is the kind of deal expected for Yaacov and Emmanuel Sharp. If Yaacov goes undrafted, he can still play in the summer league, where he could earn a contract or a final training-camp invite, and he may also sign a two-way deal that would let him split time between the NBA and the G League. He was selected earlier this season in the G League international draft by Cleveland, further signaling NBA interest. If he does not make the NBA, he is committed to Utah, where he is expected to be the starting point guard. Either way, he will spend next season in the United States.

75 minutes until the NBA draft, but ESPN’s latest projections have Noam Yaacov going to the T-wolves in the 2nd to last pick in the 2nd round.

So, with current NCAA rules and lawsuits, the T-wolves will park him at Utah for a year or two ;)? So confusing these days.

If I remember correctly, kids who are drafted in the second round and don’t sign a contract with an NBA team have generally been allowed to return to college.

I guess so - interesting. This is the blurb from the draft projection (I didn’t even realize the 1st round was last night and not the 2nd).
Yaacov is an auto-eligible international prospect who is committed to Utah next season. He is expected to play in college next season, barring any surprises, making him effectively a second-round stash pick, allowing a team to control his NBA rights. With continued development, he could be a viable depth point guard.

Looking like he’ll be a Ute, I suspect with a chip on his shoulder.
