I’d like to roll back time and bet the under
Well, the good news is another SEC team lost. The really bad news is that Miami won.
UGLY game but you gotta give credit to the two teams who “shouldn’t be in” winning road games.
Maybe the ‘top’ ones. Rest, maybe CBI. Maybe …
This. And then it would be NIT+. There might actually be better matchups than some of the CFP. And it’s a way to focus on the P4 even more rather than a stupid 7-5 Nebraska vs 10-2 Utah matchup. No saying there wouldn’t still be a bunch of opt-outs, but they could pay players a playing bonus or something.
If an at-large ACC team like Miami was able to do this, just imagine what ACC champ Duke could have done. ![]()
Duke vs Elko would have been a good story. But they probably would not have played (‘12’ Duke @ 5 Oregon). Next year’s rules, they would have been in. All P4 champs + best G5 champ guaranteed. And ND if in top 12.
Sounds like a great idea to me. The sports TV moguls should love it–people will watch those games. (Won’t they?)
So far …
- Alabama @ OU decently entertaining. I had hoped they could both lose. Both SEC. Here OU is in the playoff and fans still have to do Horns down. Bama winning justified the committee picking them, but neither team was/is elite. Indiana will win big.
- Miami @ TAMU. Wish both could lose, Miami being Miami and last team in (committee feels justified), TAMU being backyard brawl rival (and overrated until exposed by UT). If they can’t bith lose, a 10-3, but 3-3 late game is fine. Windy, but 4 missed FG… Ohio St. will win big.
- Tulane @ Ole Miss. Ole Miss easily scored, got bored, dinged up, then closed it out. Tulane looked ok, but turnovers killed them and they couldn’t stop Ole Miss offense. UGA has a better defense. Should be a good game with only 1 SEC getting through to semis.
- Oregon is going to stomp JMU
Tulane and JMU are NOT the 2008 Utes. ![]()
Montana State just crushed Montana 48-23. On to the Div. I finals. Go Bobcats!
It’s funny (and a little sad) watching JMU’s players trying to keep up with Oregon. This game’s gonna be a massacre.
No answer for Oregon’s offense, but holding their own on long drives. But can’t last long.
Total yards after one quarter: Oregon 143, JMU 128. It’s 13-3 wirh JMU at the Oregon 10. So far, not too bad.
Oregon has 3 TDs on 12 plays. This is the equivalent of them playing a JV team.
EDIT: Now 4 TDs on 16 plays. ![]()
But that didn’t last.
I would say the game is over except for I do remember Oregon phoning in a second half and losing to TCU before.
Honestly, Oregon’s defense doesn’t look great. They’re going to have a hard time with TT.
With enough time to prep for Lomu & SFano being out, I’m interested to see what Beck comes up with.
These third- and fourth-tier bowl games need to go. There are 1,000 people in attendance, and the teams are terrible. Expand the playoffs to 16, do a secondary tournament of 16, and be done with it.
